I present to you the text of an email I received today.

If you are interested finding out about this world you live in, please visit our web site:

Now, go there. It's an interesting enough site, vaguely dancing around selling us "The Purpose Book" for $47.95. But that isn't the funny part. Check out the URL where you order from...along with the other products available.

I tried to hack into your e-mail Sol to retrieve the URL, but I had trouble guessing your password. It's some random alpha-numeric thing right?

Funny, I mis-read the title and thought it was Sol Searching.

You shouldn't have had to go to so much trouble. I thought I put the damn thing in there the first time.

I read some of it, and it's fairly amusing.

A particularly good use of circular reasoning, the appeal to authority and the appeal to ignorance fallacies, and also the "slippery slope" (in the argument that mass chaos and ape-worshipping would ensue if it were proven that God does not exist - hah! only in the minds of those who NEED something to worship - If it were proven tomorrow that God did not exist, the only behaviour of mine that would change would be that I'd laugh out loud at the ridiculously devout, rather than snickering behind their backs like I do now.

And then they try to sell you diet pills.

Actually, grouping religious hucksterism and diet hucksterism together fits. Fad diets don't work either.

I was amused that for one of their little speeches, they chose Carl Sagan, famous Atheist, as a source. I forget exactly what they said, but it was babbling about Carl using the term "a mathematics beyond human ability" as evidence for alien activity (in a FICTIONAL work.) THEY, on the other hand, were trying to use that concept as evidence for God.

Balderdash. Stephen Hawking does mathematics far beyond me, but he isn't a god. So does (or would) Mister Spock and/or Data.

The purpose of life..... can be found in a book for nearly 50 dollars. OR.... you can spend a much more minimal amount of cash, rent "Monty Pythons the Meaning of Life", learn just about the same lessons, but have a bit of a laugh as well.

Life if laughter as far as I am concerned. Which is why I like Simon so much, he makes me laugh, althogh not always when he intends to.

According to my observations and analytical reasonings the Purpose of Life is to propagate the species. That said I'm looking for a mate. A Soul mate if you will. haha
