For the final lab report for one of my courses this term the prof requires us to make some plots in an old DOS program from 1994 called New Pet. The problem with the plots is that its very difficult to get them out of the program. I can send it to my printer, but sometimes they don't turn out right. I have the option of saving it to a PIC file, but nothing will open these files, saying they're corrupt in some way. IrfanView says its some other file and renames it as such, but still won't open it. For some strange reason the print screen button doesn't work. Any thoughts? I'm running XP Pro SP2.

Erh, well, .pic files can have roughly seven billion formats, but in your case it's probably just a PC-Paint bitmap (which was a popular package around '94), and can be opened with PMView and I-don't-know-what-else.

PMView doesn't recognize the file format either. [Frown]

OK, mail one of those files to me (or upload it somewhere and give me the URL), and I'll see what I can do.

We appreciate your concern.
It is noted and stupid.

Do the plots display on screen? Can you run it in a Windows DOS box? If so, you can hit printscreen from outside the app to create a screencap...

I run the program in a Windows DOS box, but when it plots it goes into fullscreen mode. If I hit printscreen, nothing gets to the clipboard. When I hit alt+enter, the program goes back to a different screen.

Got a camera? [Wink]

If you can print, there are programs out there that will allow you to create .pdfs by simulating a printer. You print, but it ends up in an Acrobat file instead of on paper. Once it's in Acrobat, you might have better luck getting a screengrab.

I tried setting Adobe PDF as my default printer but it didn't work. [Frown]
