1: The other line always moves faster. 2: D=s*d (Disaster = success times duration.) The longer things have been going well, the worse the disaster around the corner. 3: The loudness of an inner-city car stereo varies inversely to the quality of the music being played on it. 4: Nobody's quiet when you need them to be. 5: Work expands to fill the time available. 6: An object in rapid motion (a small child) tends to remain in motion (running around pulling books off the shelves) unless acted upon by an outside force (me), regardless of traditional dampening devices (mommy, daddy, grandma, babysitter, or social worker), which tend to instead hinder the outside force. 7: A woman's desirability tends to vary inversely according to her attainability. 8: But you can't tell her that. 9: The humor in "Ghostbusters" varies exponentially with the amount of alcohol consumed during a viewing. 10: Lists of "Universal Laws"'s humor varies inversely with their length.

Forgot one for the Bruderhof:
People who live in isolated utopian communities shouldn't try to dictate societal policy to the rest of us who don't.

*Scowls at RW's comment about the Pope* I can't imagine what you have against the man. He's one of the people in this world that I and many others respect the most. And certainly not simply becuase he's "The Pope"...i probably won't feel nearly as strongly about the next Pope as I do for JPII. The man has some very wonderful intentions, especially in trying to reach out to teens in this world. We all know teens today need help, look at littletown, padooka, all the other incidents. he's trying to unite the younger generation of us because he knows that this world will someday be in that generations hands.
...and who else here would, after being shot at by some fanatic (and was he wounded? i'm not sure he was, but still...), go to see the man in jail, speak with him face to face, and F-O-R-G-I-V-E him?! I honestly don't know that I could do that.
Now if he had been involved in some sort of scandal...say the watergate equivalent, i could understand that. but he hasn't. the man is very upstanding, and a wonderful role model. yes, the papacy has had it's dark times in the past, with all sorts of corruption, i'm not denying that, MANY things in this world have. But John Paul II have been an excellent Pope, and the day he dies, a part of my heart will break, for all the times (at least 2 or 3) he has been in this country, and due to whatever reason, i was unable to attend the service he held. i would truly love to meet the man and shake his hand or give him a hug, or SOMETHING. but how you can say he--or ANYONE for that matter! sheesh!--should have died instead of princess di, mother teresa, or, again, any one else, is beyond me.
sorry if i'm ranting and this post was very long. something about that really hurt though and i felt this was something to be said.

Just a reminder, this isn't the place for arguments over which religious leader is best.

Call me shallow, but I really don't care WHAT Frank was into, I think he has one of the most wonderful voices I've ever heard. :P It doesn't even cross my mind when I listen to his music.

I was not debating which relgious leader is the best. My point was that i was offended by his comment:
quote:It's always the wrong famous people who die (Diana, Mother Theresa etc. Never Prince Charle sor the pope :]) Exception to this rule is Frank Sinatra, filthy mob criminal, burn in hell.
*sighs* never mind.
