My cousin sent me this. While it is hokey, there is more than a grain of truth in it.
One of my teachers had each one of us bring a clear plastic bag and a sack of potatoes. For every person we'd refuse to forgive in our life experience, we were told to choose a potato, write on it the name and date, and put it in the plastic bag. Some of our bags, as you can imagine, were quite heavy. We were then told to carry this bag with us everywhere for one week, putting it beside our bed at night, on the car seat when driving, next to our desk at work. The hassle of lugging this around with us made it clear what a weight we were carrying spiritually, and how we had to pay attention to it all the time to not forget, and keep leaving it in embarrassing places. Naturally, the condition of the potatoes deteriorated to a nasty slime. This was a great metaphor for the price we pay for keeping our pain and heavy negativity! Too often we think of forgiveness as a gift to the other person, and it clearly is for ourselves!! So the next time you decide you can't forgive someone, ask yourself isn't your bag heavy enough?

It's hard to believe there are that many morons who would follow the teacher's instructions. It may be strange, but I think it's a good way to show that people need to let go. It's easy to push thoughts of ruined friendships aside, but carrying around a sack of potatoes is somewhat more difficult to ignore.------------------ Josh: I think they're getting to know each other a bit too well, if you catch my drift. Me: Oh, I agree. I think they're spending too much time together, that is of course, if you catch my drift. Asher: I think he's *ucking her, and he's cheating on his wife, and he's risking his marriage, and if his wife finds out about it she'll leave him and take their son, and his life will be ruined. If you catch my drift...

That's actually a pretty accurate way to look at it. *nods approval*It reminds me of the boy, the fence, and anger.. ------------------ From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return. Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you. ... Know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without. For behold, I have been with you from the beginning, and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.

I don't know about you, but I'd mash my potatoes and eat them. Then, not only would I feel better, but the potatoes would be gone, and I'd have gained from them what use I could.Metaphorically speaking, of course. ------------------ "We shall not yield to you, nor to any man." -- Freak, The Mighty.

But the best thing is to never let it get to the point where you have potatoes TO put in a bag.------------------ From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.
