When Madeline Murray O'Hair dissappeared a few years ago, there was a lot of mystery. The chief mystery was why didn't anyone investigate the disappearance when it happened? Here's a link to a transcript of an ABC news report about it: http://www.abcnews.go.com/onair/abcnewsspecials/transcripts/sp990722_trans1.html Interesting. --Baloo P.S. to Sol System: I don't expect it to, but if this subject turns into a hot potato, feel free to move it to the flameboard. ------------------ Carpe Canem (Translation: Damn! The word "mole" comes to my mind. But perhaps that's just from years of paranoia. Yes, probably that's what it is. Nevertheless, it would not surprise me in the least if, during further investigation, they were to discover that Walters actually had ties to one of the more... radical... belief groups. But like I said, that's more probably just my cynicism and paranoia talking. ------------------ 'In every country and in every age the priest has been hostile to Liberty; he is always in allegiance to the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection of his own." ---- Thomas Jefferson [This message has been edited by First of Two (edited October 27, 1999).]

Well, this woman apparently had a little trouble w/ the definitions of words. An atheist is someone who questions all authority? Not really. I believe that's called an "anarchist". An atheist merely believes there is no god (a- = "no", theos = "god").------------------ "I think you people have proven something to the world: that a half a million kids can get together and have three days of fun and music and have nothing but fun and music." -Max Yasgur; Woodstock, NY; August, 1969

Usually when I say "I'm not expecting any trouble", trouble shows up with its two large friends. So I'll just nod and say "hmm...interesting". ------------------ "Like I told you, you are concentric in your form. When it's cold you've got yourself to keep you warm." -- John Linnell

I disagree. ANY wise person questions all authority, for only by withstanding questioning can authority be shown to be right or wrong.Anarchist, on the other hand, want to destroy authority, right OR wrong. (One of the reasons anarchy as a social system doesn't work.) Since "God" is seen by many as a supreme authority, challenging it is, in effect, challenging all authority. ------------------ 'In every country and in every age the priest has been hostile to Liberty; he is always in allegiance to the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection of his own." ---- Thomas Jefferson
