It's the day I'd been waiting for a long time but now that it's arrived, I feel like shit.Yes folks, I'm 21 today. I've had two different people tell me that it's all downhill from here - they were obviously joking, but it doesn't do me much good. I need reassurance, please ------------------ Whenever people agree with me, I always feel I must be wrong.

Well, I am imminently facing my 22nd birthday in a few days, so am suitably philosophical at the moment. I cannot cite much from my personal experience to encourage you, but consider this:Statistically, you are likely to have for more sex in the remainder of your life than you had in the begining of it. And you can have a drink in America! *chuckles*

*laughs* Leave it to the thought of getting more sex to cheer a bloke up. I feel a little better after that, thanks Joe. *walks off smiling*------------------ Whenever people agree with me, I always feel I must be wrong.

Actually, America is all of N. America and S. America. So, Monty's statement is slightly inaccurate because the legal drinking age in Canada is 19. ------------------ "Move your mind, it's gonna cost you nothing" -Eiffel 65, Move Your Body

Whatever the average, it'll still be higher than the UK. Legal drinking age is 18 which means that everyone starts drinking at about 12 or 13.------------------ Whenever people agree with me, I always feel I must be wrong.

Of course, in the US, it's 21, and they still start at 12 or 13. And everyone wonders why I say people are stupid...------------------ Col. Maybourne: "Teal'c... It's good to see you well." Teal'c: "In my culture, I would be well within my rights to dismember you." -Stargate SG-1: "Touchstone"

In Sweden the drinking-age is 18 and the purchase-age is 20. What's the latter in the UK?------------------ Somehow we're going somewhere.

Er...in Las Vegas, the drinking age is, IIRC, the same as in the rest of the U.S. Gambling is, of course, legal, but prostitution is not. (It is, however, legal in certain counties in Nevada, but not statewide, and Las Vegas does not happen to be in one of those counties.)------------------ "20th Century, go to sleep." -- R.E.M.

Your life from age 0 to 21 is like getting out of bed, taking a shower and having breakfast. The rest is what happens after you open the door and go outside. There's a potential for more excitement than you can stand, terror, love, anger, betrayal, loyalty, realizing you can have an effect on the world (just not the way you fantasized about in school), and more. If you think turning 21 is anticlimactic, you haven't experienced life yet. 21 is just the starting gun. ------------------ "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." --Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) Come Hither and Yawn...

Oh goody, you mean I've actually got something to look forward to?Naah, I feel alright now. It was just this feeling that I was getting old. There's just so much that I want to do with my life, but I realised yesterday that it was just the beginning. I can do so much now, and I will. I have opportunities that my parents or their parents never had and I am going to avail myself of them. Frank: I'd never trust a man who didn't feel better at the prospect of getting more sex. How can one think one is actually "old" when one is twnety-one? (Woah, too many ones in there...) Happy birthday Joe. You doing anything interesting? Are you planning to REMEMBER any of it? Tim: How can one feel old at 21? Well, why do people think that Britney Spears has any talent? They just do! It was a completely irrational feeling, but that's the thing about irrational things - they don't conform to anything. It only lasted a day anyway. Nimrod: The age for buying alcohol is 18 too. How does your system work? You can go to the pub and drink at 18, you just can't get your round in?People do tend to feel old at 21 more in the UK than the US. At 21, you can drink. That's the final law to be broken. there is no nothing that you are "too young" to do. Well, except maybe some daft old law like going to the shops in your PJ's, I dunno. In the UK, you can do pretty much everything at 18. that's the age everyone looks towards as a sign of being an adult, of being free. You turn 18, you leave school. you either then get a job, and have money for the first time in your life, or you go to uni, and spend 3 years doing bugger all. And getting a loan for doing bugger all too. 'Bout the only thing a 21 year-old can do that an 18 year-old can't is give driving lessons. Woop-bloody-pee. Still, I don't turn 21 for another half a year! Woo! Still, I've got some pictures of OS and Monty when they were still in their prime (that's 20 and 21 in case your not keeping up). Oh, and one of Frank. Now all I need to do is get them developed. Gnash. ------------------ "Sorry Wendy, I just can't trust something that bleeds for five days and doesn't die." Mr Garrison
