OK, I need help - where on the boards were we talking about the Galactic core from ST:V

I said that the barrier from WNMHGB might be above or below not actually the 'edge'

And then I said I had an idea that the Galactic Core might have had a large diameter back during the time of ST:TFF and that once the 'barrier' was 'penetrated' by at least two ships... it opened up more sectors of space... maybe why the Feds hadn't met the Cardassians, the Bajorans, the Ferengi and the Breen!?! But by TNG, that barrier was of no consequence what so ever.

and then I was going to do a pic:

Nice picture!

According to that the Federation is about 1000 lightyears across from the left to the right. Is that true (in Star Trek, ofcource)?

I'm not exactly sure Altair, the pic above is just rough... anyway. I know that Picard said that the Federation was about 1000 lightyears across - but you have to remember that it probably isn't a circle and that that distance could be the two extremes and that the 'territory' might be like sharp points jutting out from a larger 'core'.
