You wouldn't imagine the joy I had recently when I found an authentic Manetti lying in a dead space (actually, at first I though it was scrawled Monet, until I hit myself several times in the face and then it came out to Manetti. {Sigh}). I moved into this house two years ago, and found it just today wraped and preserved in cloth. It appears to be a scene of Paris done in some late 19th century impressionism style. Very beautiful. I have one problem. Who is Manetti?

I want to auction 'er off on eBay, but I need to know more abou the painting (obviously). Does anyone know who he is or know a place I can go to find out (Artist Database?) more about him and his art?

Thanks

I should've stayed awake during Art History.

Only two Manetti's come to mind immediately, one being wildlife (more specifically: bird) artist Xaviero Manetti.

With the other being Rutilio Manetti, the only bookmark I have of him is Here

Try the Internet-Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Artcylcopedia

The thing is is that none of those artists paint in my painting's style. I'll get a picture up tomorrow.

The painting is completely French impressionism. The streets of Paris on a murky day with the figures in the foreground like black sticks. The black sticks contrast with the store fronts and streets to convey an idea of oppression. So French Revolution. I love it. Almost as though I'd think twice about selling it ...

Ooh... Impressionism. Studied a little bit of that in Music class

If you could get an image of it, I might be able to, or know someone who could identify it. Don't hold your breath so long that you turn purple and then someone mistakes you for a grape and then steps on you ad grinds you into wine and then bottles you and then sells you to someone only to be sloshed around in their mouth and then urinated out and flushed into the sewer system, ultimately to meet your end floating around with alligators.

Better first make sure that "Manetti" isn't the name of the house' previous owner, or something... :-)

'Ere she is. It's a little dark, so I can retake the picture if you want.

OKay.... Manetti is an ITALIAN name. I know, I studied it for two years.

So either you've got italian impressionism there, or what you've got is a MANET, who was a french sorta-impressionist.

I need to see a magnification of the painting to compare paintint styles to make sure of that, and maybe a magnification of the signature to look at.

...or you have an Italian artist painting French impressionism.

Like Rubino Artio, who was a French Impressionist, yet Italian.

Plus, I think it's quite modern, and modern artists can really paint whatever style they want, so there's nothing to say this isn't French impressionism by some Manetti who lived/s in France.
