Referring to Baloo coming back, I too am around more after IRL distractions, and some net related ones.

Have I ever said I like this board? There are no personal problems that escalate to huge flame wars or admins/mods who are double standard-ish.

I think I'll hang around here some more.

Well, as long as everyone else is coming back... I've been gone for a couple days, but only because my computer was nonoperational. The good news is, I have Linux now... :-)

No, the buggiest is Win98SE. Right, Tim?

Is it? Damn, the new computer I was looking into had that. How's Win2000?

Pretty good, I hear. But not if you want to play games.

Yeah. If you want games, wait for Millenium.

Is Win98SE that buggy? I thought it was less buggy than 98 was at the start, where it was the buggiest thing since mr bug gave birth to a bug ridden baby. It's better now though. And Win98SE is less buggy still.

So, I guess I would need dual OS' then. Argh.... well I can handle that.
Just might be a while.

I'll tell ya', I installed a Win:M-E version, and after I had installed DirectX 7.0a, to do some gaming, the fecking thing never completed a boot again, it just switched itself off everytime the computer started to load the win-files...

Luckily I had made an "image" of my earlier windows-configuration, using "PowerQuest PartitionMagic" (we use it at work).

TLE: Win95 may be old-school but the final version of it is a helluva lot more reliable if you want to, say, arrange a network gaming-evening wit yo' homies or sumth'n else wich doesn't allow fuck-up's...

Er, aren't they all 4.00 something or other blah?

BTw, what exactly do you lot DO to your computers to get them to fuck up so often? My computer has fucked up, but only twice due to Windows (in 5 years, that's not bad). The other times were caused by a power spike, and me dropping the bloody machine.

Oh, and does anyone actually download updates from the WinUpdate site? Or is that breaking some computer nerd rule doing stuff the hard way and and then moaning about it?

I wouldn't know if they are all 4.00 whatever. I do know it's B however.
I have downloaded from there every so often.

The problem is my computer is unstable due to who knows what. I had to format it once, then reinstall the original configuration and it screwed up the same way before without anything being added on! It's those buggy Windows drives and add on crap that did it. I usually get an I/O error to do with a start up file which I deleted to get the damn thing working again.

One problem I've had is w/ my computer spontaneously rebooting itself. However, I think that may have something to do w/ the fact that the CPU has been hitting temperatures upwards of 110 degrees Fahrenheit. I think I need another fan or five... :-)

I have no sympathy. You get nice weather, we get shit weather. On the flip side, my computer doesn't melt (or sound liek an aircraft taking off). It's a fair trade.

Windows 95B is the second last version, I think. It's got FAT 32 hasn't it?
