I have a 6 outlet surge protector. It's not a very strong one. I have a single wall power outlet. What if I plug in:

-My new computer.
-Monitor
-Sound system
-13 inch TV
-VCR

Will this overload the surge protector? Cause an electrical fire? Overload the wall outlet?

Thanks.

Nope, it shouldn't overload at all. Plugging all that on a wall adapter will. I actually run all my computer equipment through two surge protectors as well as motors, lights and such for a turtle terrarium.

Really you would just have to try it. Even if it overloads it will only fry a fuse or trip a breaker.

Or if you're (un)lucky, burn the house down when the bad wiring catches in the musty, dry old walls.

Three important questions to ask an alien before having sex:
(1) Are you carrying any diseases which might be communicable to humans?
(2) Have you had sex with any high-risk partners in the past six months?
(3) Which one is your mouth?

I'm not that worried about bad wiring. The whole basement that I'm moving to has been redone. The landlord mentioned that he would get me a couple of heavy duty power cables so I can plug my stuff in.

The bad thing is that the room I have has only one wall outlet. So, all this is going to be routed into surge protectors and be plugged into the wall:

-Computer
-Monitor
-Sound system
-Star Trek Enterprise Phone
-TV
-VCR
-Stereo
-CD player
-Alarm Clock
-Bedside lamp
-Cellphone

All this into one outlet. Imagine if all this was turned on at once.

The horrors!

You could make it better though. Get rid of the Enterprise phone. Trust me, any girls you get are going to run screaming for the hills the moment they see that.

Star Trek merchandise = lack of rumpy-pumpy.

Look at the sum.

Unless it is your girlfriend who got you that phone

Indeed. Unfortunately, Trekkie gf's are an exceedingly rare breed. Lucky me, I found one.

God, I can't imagine anything worse. That means you probably talk about Trek all the time. I come here to do that. Even going out drinking with Liam and Monty, we didn't bring it up that much - but then we got to see Star Trek night at Page's Bar in London. Now we know what Marlon Brando was on about - the horror, the horror. . .

She doesn't like Trek. But she got me the phone because she knows I like it.

Sweeeeet!!

I still think the outlet will handle it. Worst thing is you may blow a fuse or trip a breaker. Doesn't really sound like you have a choice unless you want to clutter the place with extension cords to different rooms - Which IMO is more unsafe than loading it all into one outlet.

And what's wrong with girlfriends that like Trek?

Actually my wife has a passing enjoyment for the show, but it certainly isn't a topic of conversation more than 3% of the time. :P

I can't believe he said that! He went to bed and left me up watching the rest of the TOS marathon today! And I watched it to the very end.

Yeah, I'm proud of myself considering TOS is my least favorite.

Erm... Would that be the TOS marathon on SFC that doesn't end for another hour and forty minutes (according to the TV listings I'm looking at, anyway)?

Dunno what time zone you live in, but I live on the East Coast. We generally see everything first. The last episode they showed was the one where Alice in Wonderland was portrayed. Is that the same channel?

And besides, we may not even have the same cable service. I'm not sure of the channel the marathon was shown on - I'm sure DEA could probably tell ya.

Alternatively, you could ask him. Jeez, I remember when couples talked. . .

Well, you see...he works nights. He usually is asleep when I'm home. Since I've been off work for the past week, I do get to spend a few hours each morning with him.
