We can call it at the 92nd day of the presidential elections. A popular newspaper who has completed a study of all the turned in ballots in Florida concluded that Al Gore has indeed won the state of Florida and its 25 electoral votes........And yet.....Bush is president anyways......sigh.......so much for all that stuff about the people electing their leaders.------------------ If anyone has a Star wars action fleet E-wing starfighter or Tie defender toy they want to sell, please E-mail me at areas-4@excite.com [This message has been edited by MIB (edited February 07, 2001).]

Which newspaper? Another paper concluded that Bush won Florida by 6 votes. Which paper? How accurate are they? I mean, if it's the Florida Enquirer ... This probably belongs in the Flameboard. Still, if it's true ... ------------------ Star Trek Gamma Quadrant Average Rated 6.83 out of 10 Smileys by Fabrux *** "Oh, yes, screw logic, let's go for a theory with no evidence!" -Forum Member Who Shall Be Nameless. 11:48am, Jan. 19th, 2001

Er ... okay, where? It's not on WashingtonPost.com, and honestly, if it did come out that Gore won Florida's popular vote and not Bush, I think that would be front page news, don't you? I mean, the crowd of people marching in front of the White House chanting "Get Out Of Gore's Home!" would probably make CNN =) ------------------ Star Trek Gamma Quadrant Average Rated 6.83 out of 10 Smileys by Fabrux *** "Oh, yes, screw logic, let's go for a theory with no evidence!" -Forum Member Who Shall Be Nameless. 11:48am, Jan. 19th, 2001 [This message has been edited by JeffKardde (edited February 07, 2001).]

A correction, Jeff. The paper which did the first recount did not have Bush winning by 6 votes. It had him adding another 6 votes to the lead of around 300 that he already had. Each candidate picked up a few votes, but Bush picked up six more than Gore picked up. And only in Miami-Dade county, the most hotly contested area.(I know this because I posted the accouncement.) I would have to see a citation to this 'official' announcement, via a link to the page. I seriously doubt its validity, otherwise, because the last official word I heard was that the other news agencies which were doing recounts had only recently started, and were a long, long way from completing a full recount. I must now also point out that each successive recount becomes more and more dubious, as the counting parties handle more and more disputed ballots, with the opportunity to dislodge previously rejected votes due to repeated handling, poking, and prodding, and the not insignificant possibility of mischief by biased counters. ------------------ "My knowledge and experience far exceeds your own, by, oh, about a BILLION times!" -- Q

Go to this page. http://www.wsws.org/articles/2001/feb2001/flor-f05.shtml As for this not being mentioned by any major news organizations, this would be typical. Do you honestly think that Bush would want many news agencies to advertise the fact that he DIDN'T win Florida to the people? If the news agencies did that, A LOT of people might start rallying for Bush to be recalled. My guess is that the Bush administration told the news agencies to keep their mouths shut.------------------ If anyone has a Star wars action fleet E-wing starfighter or Tie defender toy they want to sell, please E-mail me at areas-4@excite.com

MIB,Bush could tell the news agencies to keep their mouth shut as much as he wants too. There's freedom of the press, and if this article was truthful, the headline of The Washington Post would've read: Gore Won Election, Bush Fraud!. It didn't. I don't know where this website got its information, but I have a hard time believing its accuracy. Now that I think about it, I don't have much difficulty imagining Dubya sending over troops to keep the papers quiet ------------------ Star Trek Gamma Quadrant Average Rated 6.83 out of 10 Smileys by Fabrux *** "Oh, yes, screw logic, let's go for a theory with no evidence!" -Forum Member Who Shall Be Nameless. 11:48am, Jan. 19th, 2001
