In case if you've been following this, the NEAR/Shoemaker spacecraft has successfully touched down on the asteroid Eros.

What, Mars? Oh, I thought you might be talking about Voyager, Cassini, Galileo...

For a group that regularly launches things aboard what are essentially giant firecrackers, they don't do so bad. Smaller error rate per mile than most of you drivers, I'd wager.

What was it somebody said about the Neptune encounter... like sinking an 18-mile putt?
