Mmmm hmmm.

Unlike other places like the TrekBBS in which they just blabber like a chat room, talking about very strange things. It's too much to keep a lid on things that happen there. (sometimes I swear that those people don't have much of a life)

You'll like it here. Cool environment, perfect for a cappucino or two. Just be sure not to cause too much trouble.

Long or short hair usually depends upon the basic aesthetics of the person in question.

I, for example, would NEVER look good with long hair. I'd end up looking, at BEST, something like the Blonde Lone Gunman.

Some people can pull it off either way, but most still look better one way. My gf cut her hair very short years ago, and wanted to grow it long again, but it keps driving her nuts at that middle length, so she'd cut it short again. It wasn't until her surgery incapacitated her for several months that she was able to let it grow (simply because she couldn't cut it) and now it's getting long again.

I prefer longer hair (at least shoulder length), because its fun to play with.

My friends, do not be deceived by what rumors you may hear of my past. I assure you, they are a tangled web of lies that do not even vaguely resemble truth. In the interest of preserving truth, I will show you that there is a decent, rational explanation for the fact that I have been banned from (a mere) five sci-fi message boards; it has *nothing* to do with me being any sort of troublemaker.

-----
TrekWeb
-----
Reason for permanent ban: No official reason given.
Occasionally, the moderators complained that I was posting off-topic. However, after banning me, the moderators themselves engaged in non-sci-fi related material on the board, over and over again. I can still smell the stench of their rank hypocrisy.

-----
TrekBBS
-----
Reason for permanent ban: According to the administrator...
'I am hereby banning Red Quacker in direct violation of the Official TrekBBS Policy. I am doing this out of a subjective bias against Red Quacker.'
In other words, the guy didn't like me. Even though I didn't break any rules, he just felt like kicking me off. Yeah. That's fair.

-----
SlipstreamBBS
-----
Reason for permanent ban: No official reason given.
However, it can be assumed that it was because TrekBBS and SlipstreamBBS share the same chief administrator. He wasn't feeling especially magnanimous, so he kicked me out because he could.

-----
AndromedaTV
-----
Reason for permanent ban: No official reason given.
I only posted there a grand total of TWO times before I was banned. I believe it has something to do with a friend of the TrekBBS administration working over there or something. However, I did not really intend to spend any time at a quacky Delphi Forum anyway.

-----
Section31
-----
Reason for permanent ban: Evading a ban.
I originally got banned for one week because I was saying some harsh (but not profane) things about people who were being racists. However, I continued posting messages (under the same account) because they forgot to actually ban me (they only posted the announcement, which I had not read). By the time I discovered I had originally been banned, I was 'ban evading,' so I was given a permanent ban.

As you can see, these administrator types are totally corrupt. If I actually broke a rule, then I could understand their actions. However, this is not the case.

Posted by DEAvendetta on :

Heh, eventually you'll understand that your a problem, and all good Administrators just don't like you.

It should be obvious since you've practically been banned from every Star Trek and SciFi bulletin board on the internet....

When is it going to click?

Re: DEAvendetta

All good administrators, eh? Since when was 'I am kicking this person out in direct violation of policy' a sign of a good administrator? You're obviously as corrupt as the rest of them; the only reason you didn't issue the same shameless ban message 'Christian' did is because you don't have the guts! At least Christian didn't make up a false accusation to use as an excuse (people see through your garbage more often than you might suspect).

Consider this: I have been posting regularly on three different message boards lately (simultaneously). On each one, there was a 'representative' from a previous board from which I had been banned, so I arrived with a somewhat spotty reputation. If I were the troublemaker that you and others suggest I am, then why I have I not been banned from *any* of them?

There is clearly something wrong with your analysis of my behavior. When your analyses have such obvious inconsistencies, it is usually a sign of an argument fabricated for some sinister purpose. In this case, the reputation of moderators on TrekBBS is in horrible condition and the quality of conversation is suffering as a result. Rather than accept your mistake, you rationalize it (because we all know that administrators never make mistakes).

I have been lurking at TrekBBS since my unfortunate departure. (Of course, if I were truly the troll that you say I am, I would simply make a new account and start trouble, but I have not done so.) I have noticed the board seems to be rather quiet lately. Even one of the administrators pointed out how quiet the QS&F board (aka Complaint Board) has become. Perhaps it is because people with legitimate complaints are afraid to voice them?

Perhaps the conversations have quieted down because people with minority viewpoints realize they can be kicked out if Christian doesn't like them?

The trouble with Christian is that he, unlike other moderators, never *ever* posts messages for conversation. Since you never see what he has to say, you have no idea what his beliefs are. I never once posted a message directed toward him, yet he *still* decided to dislike me. I suspect that he is nothing but a glorified lurker who weeds out the people whose messages do not entertain him.

QUACK!

Indeed...I think it would be best if outside disputes remain outside, or at least not in any other threads.

I'm not trying to be offensive or anything, but I have to ask. Who are you to tell me what to do?

Secondly, don't worry about the 'outside disputes.' DEAverification/vendetta was effectively rebuked by my post. He won't respond. (Or if he does respond, it will be to say that he won't be responding in the future.)

The one thing all administrators have in common is that they cannot stand to be on a board where they don't have any power.

Do you understand what 'keep it outside' means? That means keep it outside. Don't post ANYTHING about it HERE ever AGAIN. We don't want to read it, nor do we care.

And JeffKardde can tell you what to do, because it's not just him, his sentiments are echoed by all of us.

Consider this an olive branch. And I only give out one. Call me soft, I don't care. Maybe it'll do some good, as is intended.

Red Quacker, I'm NOT being sarcastic or anything, I just want to ask, when you registered here, what was your motivation? What was the goal you thought you could fullfill? You want to discuss ships, technology, scifi-episodes, trek ethics? Do you like to converse about future productions, plow through old novels?

If you grasp those goals and get a stiffer upper lip, I think your residence here will be much more fun than your other journeys. Try it. Just saying.
There is no need to attack anyone, including you, further in "pointless bickering", as my brain-chip catalouges it. We will try to defuse it, if "hostage-situations" appear again, without taking sides.

But back to Liz's hair. For some reason, whenever I see a girl with really long hair, I think she's done it so that she could play Eve in on a TV movie. She can cover her breasts with her hair, and as long as she has a fig-leaf for the other part, then she can play the literal First Lady at any time of the day.

No, it's not weird.

It may not be a good sign, but that presupposes that you are telling the truth about my 'ticking people off' in my greeting post. It just so happens that a very tiny minority of people on this board have connections to other boards and are attempting to lash out at me because of my well-received attacks on their corrupt administration. I don't think that most people truly believe that my presence on this board will be anything other than pure delight and intellectual stimulation.

It's unbelieveable. Everywhere I go, the nasty rumors follow (sometimes even precede) my arrival. There were even a bunch of 'Troll Alert: Red Quacker' messages popping up after I posted at the *Xena* board for quacking out loud. So I had to re-write all of my explanations for bans on that one. I really ought to just make a website with the truth and refer people to it. That would be a lot easier.

Okay. Here's the point:

People here at Flare don't care about what you did/do/have done at other BBS. This is a standard policy set in place by Charles Capps aka: GOD OF FLARE.

So stop defending what you have done/did/etc at other BBoards BECAUSE WE DON'T GIVE ONE GOD-DAMN MOUSE FOOT ABOUT IT!

But when you KEEP talking about it, it starts to PISS PEOPLE OFF!!!

In short:

SHADDUP!

You're very welcome to Flare, but Flare is not here for you to bitch about how other BBoards treat you. Flare is here to talk about Starships, and rumors, and aliens, and make silly jokes about CappComs, and ream new assholes for members in the Flameboard, and read new episodes of Star Trek: Gamma Quadrant every month, and make fun of the super gigantic size of Sol's penis, or Frank's obsession with the length of the Defiant, or Omega's strict constitutional views, or pretty much anything European (or American), or Darkstar's grammar or ...

You get the point.

Go ahead. Do what you want. Just don't be surprised when people get pissed, & don't take it out on them.

We all "do what we want" here, which is fine; we all take responsibility for our actions. Well, except in the Flameboard, where the Yangs & the Kohms, the Ennis & Nol-Ennis are constantly wacking each other with Joe Pesci-like delight, but that's neither here nor there.

What it boils down to is that--except for like 2 people, one of whom seems to be gone--you're unknown here. Completely fresh start. No one cares about prior bad acts; they are, in effect, inadmissable in court. Stop bringing them up, because no one gives a high holy fuck about them.

Realize as well that because you ARE "the new guy," you are effectively FRESH MEAT. It's nothing personal, we've all been there. It's just as much a part of the initiation as the mandatory "day of legal interpretations" with Omega, the pole-sitting contest with Sol, & the logic hunt with UM. Like I said before...just CHILL. Sit. Relax, pull your dick out of your ass, & have a rum concoction. No one's out to get you here. Leave the paranoia to the professionals.

OK, I think I can safely say I understand where the root of the problem here is. You don't understand me at all. I am *not* the 'new guy.' Yes, technically, I only started posting at this board a few days ago. *However*, I know this board in secret, intimate ways which are beyond your comprehension (so I won't waste your time and mine by trying to explain it).

Let's just say that people should *not* be telling me what to do; it should always be the other way around. I don't mean to frighten you, but you're going to need to adjust your behavior to match my requirements of acceptable board behavior. Either that, or you can leave.

I realize that this may sound a bit arrogant, since I am supposedly a 'newbie' here, but if we all just cooperate within the boundaries I have set up, things will run much more smoothly. Agreed?

This is not a board which is exclusive to you. Everyone is treated equally, and everybody is hit with the same yardstick. No one is above anybody. No one, gets special treatment. We are not here to cater to YOUR needs.

What you said to Shik and your line "If you don't like it, then you can leave" was not good forum Behaviour. Shik was right about what he posted. This board does not belong to you. You do not make the rules of the board, they are created by the forum populace themselves. If you don't like that fact, then you can leave.

This is the reality here at Flare. We will not change our reality to suit YOUR needs, RQ.

WhatwhatwhatWHAT?!?

Let me get this straight.

You have lurked here for some time & "know this board in secret, intimate ways which are beyond [my] comprehension." You state that because of this, you are not a new guy, even though you've only recently started posting.

OK, let's handle that first. That's simply a matter of perspective. I've no idea how many people read without posting; I did it for about a week. As far as I'm concerned, the minute you start posting, you're "the new guy" & are thus our new playtoy. (note this is a generic "you," not a specific "you") OK, so you're technically NOT new. Fine. Whatever.

"Let's just say that people should *not* be telling me what to do;" Granted, except for those who are so ordained by King Arthur of Cappsalot.

"it should always be the other way around." Hanh? What?

"I don't mean to frighten you, but you're going to need to adjust your behavior to match my requirements of acceptable board behavior. Either that, or you can leave." Let me get this right. YOU..want US...to change relations on YOUR say-so...despite the fact that neither a moderator nor adminstrator you be. Is that a correct interpretation?

"I realize that this may sound a bit arrogant" No shit, Buckwheat.

"since I am supposedly a 'newbie' here, but if we all just cooperate within the boundaries I have set up, things will run much more smoothly. Agreed?" No, not in the least bit. How big ARE your balls, anyway? The guy who blew up the World Trade Center had a giant testicular Hippity-Hop...but man, I think we've finally found some similarly-sized scrotial spheres to go with Simon's shaft of spectacularosity.

For the record: RQ, do what you want. I don't care. I've expressed my opinion & made some thoughts on what'll probably go down; I'm an analyst. That's my job. Mods: all y'alls is right about the horse. Apologies for helping to feed the frenzy. End of line.

Nope - it sounds arrogant, full stop.

Look, no-body here's out to vilify you for issues on other boards (OK, maybe one or two that you've clashed with in the past), but as Shik so correctly pointed out: new Labour, new Board, fresh start.

Also, you seem to be taking everything said about you as personal slights, when in fact people like JeffKarde, Shik and Dukhat are actually trying to ease the transition for you. Hey, I'm just sayng it as I see it.

This Forum is very lighthearted in nature, more so than many I've seen. Lets everyone just chill the beans and give Red Quacker a chance. But by that same token, RQ, you've to accommodate us to some degree as well.

I get the distinct impression that I am supposed to be impressed. I am not. I can spin words until Grandma Webster comes home. In the end it doesn't really matter. What does matter is the following: Me, and the crazy little moods I get into. For instance, this one: I like to use colons today. But more importantly, I am so amazingly unamused by all this it would take an army of lame comedians on Comedy Central to amuse me any less. This is over. Again, what I said in the other thread of a similar nature stands. I'm not going to lock this right now. I am going to trust the good natures of all involved. The subject will change.
