Does anyone know of a good, free, easily downloadable piece of software that allows you to trim, cut, copy, paste etc mp3's? If it could normalise them too, I'd be ecstatic, but it's not necessary.

Besides a warez? I don't think so. Mp3s for the most part need to be converted to Wav's first and then edited. As for normalizing, I am not sure.

I'm not especially adverse to warez, but I'd rather find something legal.

Okay, let's lower my goalts slightly. I basically want to do a "Name that tune" thingie in the competitions forum. So I want to take an mp3, snip a section out of it, and upload it.

So, something decent to convert mp3's to wav's, and then cut a section out. If it could convert it back to mp3, great. If not, I'll cope.

(I would still like an all in one mp3 editing program though. But that can wait).

Oh, and before anyone gets any ideas...NO! My idea. You no copy.

Liam: No, my idea. You're already copying. :-)

And you can use Winamp to convert MP3->WAV and Windows Sound Recorder to cut it down to the bit you want...

Sound Recorder? Ergh. Poo.

My idea, because I'm the only person here I can trust to actually pick tunes that other people would know.

Imagine if I let Infinity or Shik loose on this? Or Simon? *shudders*

Try GoldWave... you might need an mp3 codec in order to actually load mp3s, but it's far less poo than Sound Recorder.

I found a far more convuted way.

Nero lets you trim mp3s when you burn them. So I burn them onto a CD-RW, then rip the songs off again using Realjukebox.

It worked too. Competition is now up. Go and have hours opon hours of funny fun. Go.
