Well, I've not been able to get the damn thing to work the last few times I've tried getting it to work. So ... Where do I download it from? And what am I doing wrong? Well, let's start off with "where do I download it from", and then we'll move on to the second ... But, hey, third time's the charm ...

http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10060-100-5548053.html?tag=st.dl.10001.pop.10060-100-554805that should work ... Download.com is the best , if you goto icq.com you will get lost in a flood of ads. Anyway , theres a users guide at Download.com too. Just Download , Install , Create Your ICQ Number , and your ready to go.

I'm assuming you're just using a standard dial-in modem, cable or LAN connection. The main problem I've found with installing it is if you have a firewall. Do you?

It's hard to tell what you're doing wrong if you don't describe any of the problems you've experienced with it

I'm behind a firewall and it works fine, have never encountered any problmas. Only problem seems to be if I were to host a multiplayer game of any sort, my GameSpy software warns me about that. But joining works fine.

Only one solution for you: Complete system rebuild. That usually solves my hard to solve problems. And it cleans thing sup nicely.

And if a tile falls of the roof of your house, do you relay the foundations and redo all the decorations?Rebuilding your computer everytime something goes wrong is about as subtle as using a sledgehammer to put a poster up. Jeff, WHY won't it work? Does it install? When you doubleclick on it, does the program run? I vaguely remember that you if you haven't got a certain .dll on your computer, you need to install it. Since you're not a moron, I'm sure you can cope with some banner adverts. Check at ICQ.com.

Jeff: Actually, I meant you should describe the errors the program threw at you when you tried to get it to work Anyway... Liam's suggestion might help, so get crackin'!

I think I have it working. Figuring out how to use it, on the other hand ... My ICQ # (best as I can tell), is 93264098 ... So. Hmmm. How do I use it?

Yes. Personally, I'd recommend changing into single window message mode, rather than using the double screen. The double one takes up too much space, and is always visible. The single one disappears when you send a message. The single one is like texting (SMS-ing) on a mobile phone. The split one is like texting on a mobile phone, and then sticking the phone to your monitor while trying to surf the internet. One thing though Jeff, change your name. "Kattus Magnus" got be believing that UM had returned (which got me strangely excited). You should leave the name "magnus" as a mark of respect, in case our slightly psychotic friend should ever return. There are plenty of other Transformers to choose from. Might I suggest "Windbreaker"?

Well, now that I've got it working ... I'm in the process of tracking people's ICQ numbers down. Daryus, Siggy, Tahna, The_Tom, and Jubes, you've all got requests for authorizations. Nimrod, what's your ICQ number? The one in your profile isn't valid. Some people I've already got AIM contacts with (Shikishima, Hobbes, Fabby, MIB, Omega), so you're low on the list for ICQ numbers. And I'm going to be paging through the other Forumites for their numbers over the next few weeks ... Fear me. [ July 31, 2001: Message edited by: MeGotBeer ]

Heh. Personally I think AIM , ICQ , Yahoo Messenger etc. are worthless , ICQ was better in the old days Before AOL ... And AIM , well AIM is also crap , I have it but I barely use it. Yahoo Messenger , I have it also somewhere around here but its probley 5 versions old and used it maybe twice. I prefer email , smoke signals , phone , and other forms of communication

I was kidding. But if I lost something from my roof, I'd deffinetly have it loked at. Small problems are the symptoms of larger problems. But you would be amazed how much a rebuild helps if you never did one. I also build my own comps, so I'm just like that.
