In 1987, they did a Rambo book for children. That's just plain twisted. . .
See The Commies. See Rambo shoot them. Die Commies Die. Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :
Rambo looks like A Martinez.

Twisted, yes, but we also called them the Reagan years.

I like how Rambo is non-chalantly firing an AK-47i with one arm and he's not even looking where he's shooting.
Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :
At least he's looking where's driving. Although he really should have both hands on the wheel at all times unless shifting.

No... That military issue jeep appears to be an automatic.
By the way, I love that combination binocular/20mm vulcan cannon mounted in the backseat. I think every jeep should have one.

I bet I wouldn't have any trouble in traffic ...
"John, let the jeep behind us past."
"WHY?"
"He's got a really big .50 caliber machine gun aiming at us!"
"Oh, SHIIIT!"
or ...
"Joe, that guy in the jeep is doing 100 mph! Let's pull him over!"
"Frank, you're daft. He's got a big fuckin' gun. Let him do 200!"

Surely not that different from GI JOE?
See The Commies See The JOEs shoot them ineffectively See the bad guys run away, without anyone dying. Oh, and see all destroyed planes pilots ejecting with working parachutes Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
20mm? Looks like about 120mm if not more...

More like a TOW

Tube-launched, Optically-targeted, Wire-guided missile. I seem to remember that's what it stood for. Bloody Clancy again, no doubt. 8)

I expected the Americans to be selling this stuff to their kids, but you British, for shame.

I'm going to install a M1-A1 gunturret on my car too. Could come in handy in situations of heavy traffic congestion. Or maybe I'll just go for the whole thing... parking space is limited, after all.
And what's with the Clancy references popping up everywhere?
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Oh, nothing really, I just hold him to blame for the ultimate collapse of Western civilization, that's all. . .

no GI Joe was different ..they werent fighting commies.. they were fighting terrorists.. that is even more in style now

Y'all are surprised by a Rambo comic book? I take it I'm the only one here who watched the Rambo cartoon series back in elementary school, huh? I didn't like it, but I watched just to fill in the half-hour void between getting home from school and Transformers.

GI JOE was not about communism ... it was about the evil terrorist organization C.O.B.R.A
I dont remember if it was an acronym but it did make for some damn good t.v and action figure play.
I still have my entire collection of GI JOE action figures and all theyre little weaponry. My childhood is stored in a series of boxes in storage in case I ever feel like picking up where I left off.

Actually, COBRA was a privately owned corporation, which makes one suspect something subversive about the whole thing.
Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :
As oppossed to Destro's head, which was positively perverse.
Posted by Krenim (Member # 22) on :
I thought everybody in COBRA (except for Cobra Commander) were patsies of the snake people living in Cobra-La. It's true purpose was to keep the humans fighting each other while the snake people plotted to devolve them all.
(No, I haven't gone insane. Those who think I have gone insane obviously haven't watched the movie.)
Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :
There was a movie?
Oy. Them bastard commies!
Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :
And everyone who has watched the movie knows that the writers went insane. I could just about cope with the Orsen Welles voiced planet in TF:TM, but GI Joe the movie was just mad.
