Did AudioGalaxy get shut down? All of a sudden, there are a bunch of "x"s next to songs and artists I can usually download from.

They've made it so certain artists cant be downloaded, you have to look real hard now for the songs you want. Some people have renamed some songs so the AG bot cant block them.

Well, Sunday night I downloaded "War - What is it good for." Lots of hits for that. But today, they've all got x's. What gives? Even a bunch of stuff by Dave Attell (a comedian) has Xs. I had no problem getting his stuff last weekend.

I don't like it. I love the half-ass edit of the program though.

Forget Kazaa. It's spyware. You'll probably want to go for Morpheus intead. I'm not even so sure about this KazaaLite, even thought it claims it's not spyware. [ June 20, 2002, 17:14: Message edited by: Dat ]

This sucks. Audiogalaxy is useless now.
Yes, KazaaLite is spyware. I've installed it and ran an Ad-Aware 5.71 check. Found one Cydoor spyware component.
AFAIK Morpheus and Kazaa merged a few months ago. [ June 20, 2002, 17:26: Message edited by: Spike ]

The Cydoor it found was a dummy DLL the Kazaa Lite installation leaves on your system in order to fool the Kazaa network. Atleast thats the story according to the KazaaLite installer.
Morph and Kazaa use the same engine and the programs look almost identical so I think they are one in the same. [ June 20, 2002, 17:40: Message edited by: Obese Penguin ]

Dat: Morpheus is dead.
Spike: If you had bothered to read the documentation, you'd know that said "Cydoor spyware component" is harmless. KazaaLite does *not* contain any third-party crapware. [ June 20, 2002, 17:49: Message edited by: Cartman ]

Actually, it's alive and well. Morpheus was actually hacked into and was forced to leave the Kazaa network. It went into the Gnutella network and released a "Preview Edition" while it was working on the Version 2 program. While they have not gotten version 2 out yet, they have gotten out a version 1.9. It is still on the Gnutella network and is now under the Streamcast ownership. I'm still using their "Preview Edition", but was able to connect to the Gnutella network right before I started writing this.

im a gnutella user (through the limewire client) and am concerned about the shenanigans on there.. most notably, people who have search interceptors to disguise pernicious files as a mp3, jpg or other version of whatever you search for, or replacing files with larger pernicious versions of them after you search them out... but since i also used audiogalaxy, i guess i only use limewire for now.. although i continually refuse to DL the new version with the ads and funky stuff goin on. apologize lack capitals punctuation articles

Morpheus just released another forced update.. included with the clickthru license is the right to update the software and install just about whatever they want at any time.
Don't bother with it - go get Gnucleus, on which Morpheus is based. http://www.gnucleus.com/
