As of June 21st, 2002, I've completed my training to be in the US Navy. I'm no longer a recuit thank god.

It'll still be a while before I can get on regularly though.

Cya until then.

Well, I think Snay said it with enough enthusiasm for all of us.

But, still, congratulations!.

Cool, what are you doing?

I'm going in on September 10th for the Naval Boot Camp.

Also, I graduate on June 21st from High School, if anyone cares.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

No, none of us do. [Big Grin]

That's what Hobbes got out of, you know ... Navy Basic.

Dang, a full fledged semen....

I have to wait for my orders to transfer to my A-school down in Pensacola, FL.

The A-school is called Naval Technical Training Center (NTTC) to become an Electronics Warfare Technician (EW).

RTC is ... well it sucks. But once you get pass that, life gets better.

Well, hello sailor.

Posted by Matrix (Member # 376) on :

I had the possiblity of being a EW as well. However I picked Aviation Structural Mechanic (ASM) for some reason.

By the way Snay, first you go to Naval Boot Camp for about 9 weeks, then A-School 6 to 24 months depending on what you are doing, then you wait for orders to where you will be stationed. You are on shore for 6 months and 6 months out to sea. Then depending on how long you are signed up for, you are then in reserve for how long you signed up for (me: 4 years active, 4 years reserve).

Very good pay, for what you actually get to pay for. You get a home, no taxes, free transportation, free food, free clothing. And half the time you are out to sea so you can't exactly spend all that you made on various things such as a bar or something.

And then, you have lots of homosexual sex.

Uh, thanks Matrix? [Confused]

Hope you get a great, beautiful ship. [Big Grin] Be careful when visiting foreign ports of countries with ambigious political alignment with the US.

Actually I am going on the Enterprise, which I figured out when her next crew rotation and refit happens, which is in May of 2003.

You reminded us that Hobbes got out of Navy basic (Boot camp). Which means nothing really.

"You get a home, no taxes, free transportation, free food, free clothing"

So that's why so many of the hobos at the shelters are from the military! They're spoiled rotten and can't handle life outside the bunk!

Is this just the most random statement you've ever read, or what?

Hobbes started this thread to let us all know he got out of Basic.

So what do you mean by:

"That's what Hobbes got out of, you know ... Navy Basic."

So you are just reminding all of us non-military buffs what training to be in the US Navy means? So basically my statement wasn't random, it was directed to you. So it is not random.

No, you silly, silly, silly boy.

I was reminding you that this whole thread was about Hobbes getting out of basic training (in the Navy!) and that your whole bit about going to Navy basic seemed a bit repetative. WOW! IMAGINE THAT!

"...nothing really."

It means a lot to me actually.

My orders finally came too. I'll pick them up Friday and leave Great Lakes, IL for Pensacola, FL Saturday 0400. It'll probably be a few weeks before I can get my computer shipped to me though.

Jeff: How can that possibly be repetitive? So, the next time someone posts something about their Lego adventures, if you post anything in the thread about yourself and Legos, it's repetitive?

Posted by Matrix (Member # 376) on :

Snay's pissed off at me, that's all.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

Oh, Matrix, I love you you big goof!

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Yeah, Snay loves you. Only, it's the kind of love that Ike showed Tina Turner. [Roll Eyes]

Really, Jeff, don't you have better contributions to make to Flare than this?

On edit...

I forgot to tell you congratulations, Hobbes. How was basic? Any horror stories to share? Any stories of personal triumph over the challenges to share? [Smile]

Congrats, Hobbes.

I bet you went through a lot of crap.

Posted by Hobbes (Member # 138) on :

You have no idea... unless of course you're in the military too.

But that's done and over with now. Thank god. It's a good feeling to go through this all and finish it and be apart of something important.

Now the fun part starts for you Hobbes. From what I am told, parties and half naked women run rampent after Boot Camp...

Posted by Ultra Magnus Pym (Member # 239) on :

Wow, almost a reason one could join the Navy. Until you remember that you're joining the Navy.

Er ... are you saying you're joining the Navy to get laid?

The Navy seems to have a lot of problem with half naked women and parties ... remember Tail Hook? [Mad]

Posted by Matrix (Member # 376) on :

I'll join anything to get laid. But getting laid comes with the duty of a sailor.
