Well, there I was this morning, playing Counter-Strike with CNN on in the background. They start a story about an Iraqi scientist who studied in the US and went to try and build a nuke for Saddam. And then there's a camera shot filmed from Hawkins Hall, panning across Smith Hall at Towson University.

I go to Towson University.

I have a biology class at Smith Hall this summer (first week is over with, three more to go).

They didn't specify Towson by name as a school where this guy had studied, but I thought it was cool to see my university on CNN [Big Grin]

Yeah, well, an obscure direct-to-cable reality show about med students is shot at my university. So not only should I be allowed to start one thread on the matter, but two!

Haha! Got you beat, Snay!

In the week after September 11th, the FBI believed that one of the hijacker pilots had graduated from my school, Embry-Riddle. Though it was later discovered that the real hijacker had stolen the identity of the graduate. It made national news...or so people keep telling me, but come to think of it, I don't remember seeing anything on the national news about it at the time. Anybody remember seeing that?

However, I did see a couple months ago a bit on the NBC Nightly News about investigations into bad kind of people flying small single engine Cessna's for the purposes of mass destruction at the Arizona campus. They didn't mention the school by name, but did show video of a hanger, which had the names full name in big fucking letters. Also, they kept referring to it as a flight school, when it's really an aeronautical university. [Mad]

This wasn't supposed to be a "hah, my school has more air time then your school."

It was supposed to be, "wow, I just saw my school on CNN. That was unexpected."

Oh yeah? Well, the hospital that I was guest at about fifteen years ago is the star of a network miniseries! [Razz]

PC: I remember Embry-Riddle being mentioned on the news here (St. Louis) at the time, but I only noticed it because a friend of mine went there for a while. I don't think it was given a whole lot of attention.
