OK, I've had an image or two from a movie (or maybe a TV show...) stuck in my head for the last ten or fifteen years, and I'd love to figure out what it's from.
What I remember is a sequence of a man walking on the tops of thick wooden poles over a very deep pit. His objective was to cross the pit on the poles without spilling any of the water he was carrying in a large cup. I remember that he dropped some coins down the pit to determine the depth, and that it was quite deep. I also remember that when he got to the other side of the pit, there was a knife suspended over a small flame. He proceeded to DRINK the water, which extinguished the flame, allowing him to take the knife.
Any clues?

Sounds like "The Golden Child"
Eddie Murphy had to cross the poles, to get the, whatever it was. He ended up having to drink the water to get the "weit" to help him recue the boy.

It IS "The Golden Child" & it's on TBS right now. He's actually about to leave to Tibet to retrieve the Ijanti Dagger. I love that movie. James Hong, Victor wong, Peter Kwong...all from "Big Trouble In Little China"...& Charlotte Lewis is inCREDibly fucking hot.
The chick who we saw in silhouette, the one whose ancestor was raped by a dragon, played the ADC in ST6.
