Yes. I'm a hardcore gamer. I spend most of my free time playing games. Probably cause it's either better than reality. or because it's a different reality that is more interesting. Arcanum comes to mind. So does The Mechwarrior series.

I thought it was better too, driving all the Porsches on the racing games, until I went out and bought a Porsche. I must say I am out doors alot now!

Of more interest is perhaps the fact that they have a mathematical formula dedicated to how hardcore a gamer is. But, I digress.
I am not hardcore, but I used to be. I think I fall a bit on the hard side of casual gamer now, except when it comes to sid meyer games, and sometimes id software. I know RTCW would have been picked up on release day if I'd had a computer that could handle it at the time.
That may just be due to the advertising campaign, which, frankly, made the game seem about a million times cooler than it actually is. Western magazines may be undergoing a derth of good design, but the video game market understands the value of compelling advertisements like no other...I was envisioning swastika girls trying to sex you up before lodging poison-tipped stilletto heels into your ear.
Anyway.

A good action game can be a real good thing. Especially when your stressed. Nothing like making russian T-80's explode, Or turning a 100 ton Atlas battlemech into about 50 tons of scrap, to take the edge off your day! I love video games. I don't know what i'd do without them, well expect maybe better in school...

So what if I buy a gaming laptop, play only The Sims and SimCity 4, and buy cool electronic toys that only Japan would sell? Does that make me hardcore?

Posted by E. Cartman (Member # 256) on :
"If". Which could hypothetically be many months from now.

You will be able to import your sims. Which is a good thing. I think. Since the Sims was, y'know, quite popular.
Of course, so was Myst, and that's used as a form of torture in some African nations, so, er, what was the question again?
