See http://www.boeing.com for the news release and pictures. I was there, very cool.
Boeing's page doesn't mention this, but at Popular Science, they say that it's named for the Klingon ship.

Neat! Now, if they would develop Project Yehudi further...

Heh, this could lead to interesting arguments, Exactly how long did you guys say the Defiant was?

I don't know what site you got that from, but the wingspan is 22'8", and the length is 46'8". I have the info card right in front of me. A length of 23' would barely be enough for a decent cockpit, let alone any provisions for an engine.
I know the news services say it's named for the Klingon ship because of a vague resemblance, but it has another connection: they both have some form of stealth.

Sort of looks like the X-303 from Stargate-SG1

I don't get it. If it doesn't need a tail fin then why do regular planes need one?

To maintain lateral stability, which translates into greater passenger comfort. They aren't needed per se, though. In fact, there are many ways to design an aerodynamically sound aircraft -- the BoP, for instance, has been given a large positive/negative wing dihedral (its airfoils effectually double as fins).
