So, what's your major, Math?

Posted by MinutiaeMan (Member # 444) on :

Holy cow! Eight classes???

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

Well, keep in mind that 417 has no class (for me, anyway). I've got special permission from Prof. Clarinda Harriss (also the department chair) to enroll in the class, not go to the class, and instead help with the layout of the website.

Also, 490 has no class time. It's whenever you can meet with Dr. Fink, once a week at the most, to discuss a longer writing project ... one guy (there are only six allowed in the "class") is writing a comic book script.

And 317 is a very easy class ... no tests, no super long papers.

Posted by Solommagnus de Pym (Member # 239) on :

Fascinating!

Posted by Dat (Member # 302) on :

I myself could have never been able to handle 8 classes. I stopped at 5 classes (at most) per semester.

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

Three days a week for schooling, 8 days for work, right???

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

*scoff!* I scoff at your pathetic schedule! Here's my current schedule. [Razz]

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Physics 1000! You must have been in college for years!

My schedule consists of one class a day, most days, at 1:00 PM. Usually I get up about an hour before, then go grab a hamburger, and then play on the internet until it is time. Wednesday the class was canceled, so I slept till 2.

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

How so?

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

first Physics would be 101, so 1000 is a bit of a higher number....

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

First-year physics here is Physics 1030.

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

Almost here, yes, 10:25 as of right now...

Different numbering I guess....

Posted by LOA (Member # 49) on :

When I was at Whitworth, I was taking 10 classes.... it was definately NOT what I call easy... but you survive, I suppose *shrug*

Just be careful not to burn out, Snay.... rock bottom sucks, and there's no sense seein' ya there.... :-P

~LOA

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

Guess that depends ... if I hit rock bottom with that class load and working full time, would I get some TLC from ya'? [Big Grin]

Posted by StarFire (Member # 748) on :

Don't have my spring scedule yet. Won't until the week of finals in December.
Since I go to a business college, its set up a tad different from the typical Uni. I have only 3 classes this 10 week term:

*US Government (more like Poly Sci tho)
*Paralegalism (my major is Paralegal..tho I'm thinking of getting into the investigator end too)
*US Literature

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

All courses at UNB have a 4-digit number. Generally, 1 means first year, 2 second year, etc. An oddball is Engl 1500, though. You need Engl 1200 to take it.

Posted by Tora Ziyal (Member # 53) on :

Snay: I thought you were in comp sci. Are you something else now?

My classes next semester at U. of Sussex:

English Lit. from 1914-present
Modern English Pronunciation

See, uh, thats not a CS class schedule.
This is a CS class schedule.

Winter 2003:

CS 241 Foundations of Sequential Programs
CS 251 Computer Organisation and Design
MATH 239 Introduction to Combinatorics
CHEM 28 Introductory Organic Chemistry: Environmental
BIOL 265 Diversity of Life

Don't ask me why there's a Chem 28. It seems that the university alternates offering Chem 264 and Chem 28 every semester. However, they are so similar that my program just says "One of CHEM 28 or CHEM 264", not that its much of a choice if only one is offered.

Yes, the science (i.e. Faculty of Science, not the Faculty of Math or School of CS) administration at Waterloo sucks.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

No, THIS is a CS schedule:

COMP304-Knowledge Representation and Reasoning

COMP307-Image Processing, Computer Vision and Graphics

COMP311-Advanced Topics in Databases

COMP390-Project investigating biological metaphors relating to computer viruses with the aim of creating an artificial immune system.

I chose the project myself, for some crazy reason.

I hate this topic.

On a somewhat unrelated note:

Sometimes I like to dance around naked, but usually I get cold and have to put my clothes back on...

Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :

...
Ok, she wins.

What she wins, I don't know.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

She wins me driving to her home to present her with a basket of freshly-made white chocolate covered pretzels.

I'm supposed to sign up for classes soon. I guess I need to figure out my schedule. Yay.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I should be registering for classes in less than two hours.

COSC 3810 Principles of Programming Languages
COSC 4110 Database Concepts
MATH 3160 Linear Algebra
MATH 3510 Vector Geometry
ANSO 1010 Intro. to Sociology

I wish I had taken care of that last general education credit before now. It's going to suck having my last semester of college ruined by a damned sociology class...

Posted by StarFire (Member # 748) on :

Your...last semester? Man...I'd like to know what that feels like.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

As would I. Unfortunately, my expected graduation date has been bumped from May '03 to "Sometime Before the Sun Goes Nova."

Posted by LOA (Member # 49) on :

I don't really know when my expected grad date is.... when I was in school before the car wreck, it was spring 2004, but then I had to take 2 tears off, and now I'm switching around schools so much that it's probably going to be at LEAST 2007.... pleh... that sucks.... ah, well! It'll be worth it in the long run [Smile]

Are you kidding? I can't even de-frag my computer. I was previously a history major, and before that, criminal justice.

uh-oh.. you should have specified which sun....

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Our sun, Mike. Sol, if you prefer. Terra's Light-Bringer. Wholesale Supplier of Heat. The Big Bowl of Butter in the Sky.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Generally, the 99% of the population who don't live up their own bottoms usually know that when you say "The Sun", you mean our sun.

We could start saying "Sol" in everyday conversation. And "Luna". But even Tim would implode due to the gravitational anality.

A fine city, that.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

It is?

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

It's not?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Wasn't Brighton the city that brought us the wonder of DARKSTAR?

Posted by Solommagnus de Pym (Member # 239) on :

Swindon, wasn't it?

I've played the silver ball

Lot of fucked up people in Brighton, sounds like.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

I wouldn't call it a poxy little shit hole, but...

Posted by MaGiC (Member # 59) on :

I LIKE Brighton.. its very pleasant for a weekend or a day trip.

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

danged deaf dumb and blind boys here anyhow...

My schedule for Spring 2003 is to get class....

Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :

Huzzah! Ritten is cultured!

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

Who, Tommy??

Thank you...

Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :

Now, let's see if someone can put two and two together.

Posted by Solommagnus de Pym (Member # 239) on :

No, noone can put any of this together. At all. Isn't Pinball Wizard by Rod Stewart?

Though, Ritten was brilliant.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

By WHO! By WHO! By WHO!

Posted by Timo (Member # 245) on :

By whom? By whom? By whom? [Razz]

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

No, you fool.

Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :

Indeed, therin lies Ritten's unintentional brilliance. And, of course, with such investigative brainpower on his side, it's a matter of mere moments before this factoid is linked to recent statements concerning the potential for the misperception of Tom's sexual orientation. Moments.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Oh, I get it. You guys are talking about the CSI soundtrack. There's a hot new band on it! That no one has ever heard of outside of CSI!

Posted by Solommagnus de Pym (Member # 239) on :

Pete Townshend plays a nifty solo during the live version. With that windmill special attack of his.

Pete Townshend is bad ass.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

CSI?

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

Cock Sure Individual....

I am feeling all warm any fuzzy inside.....

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

Is CSI one a Canadian only show? I figured it'd be a show Snay would watch...

CSI: Crime Scene Investigators or something like that. It's about a group of crime scene investigators that investigate crime scenes. Also a spinoff, CSI: Miami.

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

It seems to have several spin-offs, if the special victims unit shows are related....

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

It's, like, the most popular show ever. 20 times more popular than Bosom Buddies, even, and that show starred Tom Cruise!! Anyway, it is also awful. But, popular among all right-thinking peoples! Except Germans, of course.
