Well, we were going to go to this club in London where a friend of a friend was DJing. . . but, given we can't stand said friend-of-friend's girlfriend, we decided not to bother.

Instead we stayed in, with a bottle of Cava while we watched a movie (Bridget Jones's Diary), then a nice bottle of Bourgogne (red) from Fortnum & Mason to wash down filet steak and colcannon (missed root-veg mash). Followed by champagne (again Fortnum & Mason, Kate's boss gave her a hamper for Chistmas) at midnight.

But I digress. I hope everyone has had a profitable year, and has a prosperous year to come. I'd really like to wish for peace on Earth and goodwill to all men (mainly because I forgot in my Christmas posting) but I suspect the great need felt by certain people for a war against Iraq will put the kibosh on that. 8(

It's still about an hour and thirty-five minutes away, according to the clocks here at work.....

It kind of sucks being the only one that can do the nd of month and end of year reports....

VP, drink a round for me, thanks...

so what did everyone do for their celebration?

i was invited to a friend's house in cumberland, sue's husband was having a drunken video game party. i hate videogames, and if i got too drunk i'd hate to hit on sue on her first new years as a newlywed, so i bowed out of that. and crazy jen invited me to connecticut because her mom was out of town and she had the house to herself, but that wasa little intimidating, as is everything crazy jen does. i don't call her that for nothing. and leanne wanted me to go to brian's but that is just a sleazy place, im not down with the older wrong side of the tracks goth crowd, and im probably going to see leanne tonight anyway..

so anyway, i was trying to decide which party to go to, stopped to buy liquor and visit with diana.. we had a few drinks and i decided the scene in providence was cool, so i settled in there and parked my car for the night.. then all the kids decided to go downtown for the fireworks (diana was pissed there were supposed to be lasers).. we missed the bus, and it wouldve taken us too long to walk up north main st, so we ran back to diana's house and woke up her mom and made her drive us (i was too bombed to drive).. i had to pretend to be a teenager since all of the kids are a few years younger than me. i think diana's mom hit on me too. scary.

we got downtown at 11:50, ran around the sate house lawn yelling obscenities at the governors podium and then the fireworks went off, and more drunkenness ensued. diana and amanda flashed passing cars and we had to walk back to her house, took about an hour since we went to the bus terminal first and then turned around after doing damage there. i put my fist through something glass and it hurts. then i slept in diana's bed for a while. i told her i hada crush on her and she told me id get over it. wierd.

*sigh* i really waswishing for a different kind ofdrunken craziness ocurring rather than the bullshit way everyone acted. i had fun, i just feel shitty about it . plus for the second year in a row, i made a new years resolution and broke it by 3 AM. woo!

"i put my fist through something glass and it hurts."

Imagine that...

Did we learn NOTHING from "Last Action Hero??"

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Well, I learned it wasn't that great a movie. [Big Grin]

I learned that the universe can actually only stand one instance of Robert Patrick parodying his role in Terminator 2, and since he'd already done so in Wayne's World. . .

So, who all has some resolutions for the new year? I've got a short list of them, but they don't officially take effect for me until January 5th. In the meantime, I'm still living like it's 2002.

My New Years Resolutions for 2002, listed with current status:

1) Avoid compromising situations with girls who have the capability to get me in trouble.
STATUS: Broken on 01 Jan 02, at 3 AM, and again more spectacularly on 12 June 02.

2) Never do drugs again.
STATUS: Broken on 01-03-02. But not since then (i don't count pot in this).

3) Lose tons of weight.
STATUS: Achieved! (i couldn't have done it without a digestive problem though! and gum!)

4) Spend at least 6 months without drinking alcohol.
STATUS: Achieved!

Now, onto 2003:

1) Tell a certain someone how I feel about them.
STATUS: Achieved! on 01 Jan 03, 12 AM

2) Avoid situations at parties that could get me in trouble with my pending charges.
STATUS: Broken! on 01 Jan 03 at 3 AM.

3) Start being on time for work.
STATUS: Pending.

4) Achieve Trans-Virgin Drive
STATUS: Mark 2. The foundations have been laid for the successful testing of all the apparatus associated with Project V. I just need to select the proper test vessel recipient.

The Trans-Virgin Drive. Will it be spectacular in its achievement? Or will it putter out and grind to nothing like the transwarp drive of the Excelsior? If the chief engineer overseeing the Trans-Virgin Drive is a big burly Scotsman, the odds do not look favourable.

As far as my resolutions go, I'm mainly going to try taking better care of myself. I'm going to get back into the habit of walking and start lifting weights to get into some sort of shape other than round. I hope to be slimmed down enough by April so that I start swimming and biking. Along with this, I'm going to be changing my diet so that I'm eating much healthier than I am now.

Other than that, I'm just going to try being more organized and more responsible. I'm not off to a great start with that yet, seeing as how my car is two days overdue for its annual inspection now. Along with that I'm going to try waking up and going to bed earlier along with trying to keep to a schedule. I'm going to need lots of luck on that.

If you do, can you get me a job?

I don't make New Years Resolutions, but on Monday, I went into the Hollywood Video I work at to rent a movie, and ended up staying there for 2 hours doing manual labor while still in my nice bank clothes. So at that time, I made a resolution in general -

I'm going to find it in myself to quit one of my jobs and say "no" to the other ones on a fairly regular basis -

I don't NEED 3 jobs, the money is nice, but not necessary. Furthermore, if I don't learn to say no, I'm never going to be able to get any sleep, and I'll never get rid of this mono I've had seemingly since the beginning of time. [Razz]

So that's my resolution in general. Less work, more fun! Whoo.

I spent my new year's eve getting my best friend drunk. It was sadly all too easy. First we went to Hooters for wings and beer. They have this 25oz mug, I had 3 of them meanwhile he only had 1-1/2 before puking and passing out. I was rather disappointed. We didn't even make it to downtown, I had to drive him home. Oh well, I got to spend my evening talking to the cute Hooter's girl who I went to high school with.

Er, two things.

1/ He puked up after 3-4 pints of beer? That's...pathetic, really.

2/ You drove after 9 pints of beer?

Yes on both counts.

It was only Bud. I've been drinking more and longer than my friend. Plus I told him he should eat more and drink water. It was either him or me driving, and he was already passing out. Meanwhile I was still able to drive his 6-speed manual car in the rain. I'd like to think I've developed a tolerance. Even though I may have been legally drunk I didn't feel it.

Oh, well, that's okay then. As long as you didn't feel legally drunk, there's no problem.

Don't they have taxis over there?
