Hmmm, while stomping around the hatrack.com forums, I came across something interesting.

NationStates

While the site is rather ass-slow at the moment, its a rather interesting, though simplistic idea. Basically, you control one nation among many, governing by deciding on various issues and proposals.

Having just started, I don't know much more....but has anyone else here looked into this?

Sol System: Well, technically...this is way ahead of you. The whole game is really a way to gain publicity for a book on a similar subject. Mind you, there are no ads, its free, etc.

E. Cartmen: There's no war really. Its really just a big "choose your own adventure" method of governing with minor international participation.

On that note, the only form of international involvement is through the UN. Since most new members are dumped in the "South Pacific" region, it seems that area is under-represented due to the lack of organisation. i.e. If we went ahead and created a Solareclipse region, with a fair number of member nations, we could have a much larger voice in the UN.

Heh. We wouldn't be able to agree on anything, much less speak in vox sola. [Smile]

I meant that this particular author, whose name I can't remember but I know once was spelled Maxx, so I guess I remember half of it, and I can't be bothered to check, has for some time now been on the horizon of everyone's good friend Tom. So I assumed he'd be in here all "Syrup was good, so Jennifer Government has a good chance of quality as well!"

Yet, once again, fate makes fools of us all.

You are all invided to move your nations to the Region of Trektopia.

Because all other regions suck. [Big Grin]

(This has not been a paid advertisement. I had no part in the creation of this region. I just decided to help form an up-and-coming power bloc.)

Was the Mr. Head Room what? Occupied at the time by the Occidental Society's Annual Giving Fair? Yes, as it turns out.

My nation is ranked as the "most free" in Trektopia.

This says something, either about the true nature of my politics, or about the other people who are building nations there, I'm not sure which. [Big Grin]
