No, not anorexic women, but model cars! I'm a great enthusiast of model cars. My collection is rather meager at the moment, but I'm building up. I have lots of parts from formerly assembled kits, though.
You took all the fun out of my guessing what they were (although the only one I would have gotten right was the Bel Air). You sure that Mustang is a Shelby? Looks more like a BOSS instead of a Shelby GT350 or GT500, especially the body style that looks more like from the 70s then the 60s.
The Talladega is a Mercury right?

Is that a picture of yourself w/ a bishop?
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
I'm pretty sure its a Shelby. The box says Shelby Mustang on it. It has the cobra in the grille. The Talladega is a Ford, actually. The Talladegas were modified Torinos.
And yes, thats a picture of me with a bishop after my confirmation.

Update! Some new models. The yellow truck is my favourite. The Bronco isn't quite finished, and the silver truck is in the works. Its from a kit almost identical to the yellow truck, only the cab was shortened by the previous owner.
Nice collection... but is it me or did that shelf have Tomb Raider comics on top of the Star Trek stuff?
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
It did; I moved them. Posted by Da_bang80 (Member # 528) on :
Heh. Confirmation. I remember at mine, the priest that was there with the bishop was standing right in front of a lighted stature of st. Mary (it was at a shrine where she "appeared") and it looked like he had a halo over his head. everyone who sees it can't help but laugh

Do you have a camera in here or something...?
(sadly enough, minus the magnifying glass part, I actually did that )

Responses in order...
1. No, I've never built a Trek model. They're virtually impossible to find in SJ, but it looks like SoundEffect is the proof that there are some in NB somewhere.
2. I couldn't find the hardcover of the second book. I haven't read the third one yet, either. It was such a long time between reading book one and two that I forgot most of what happened.
What is SJ? Some kinda wacky Canada thing?

Ah, the sordid world of cartoon porn...
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
And good cartoon porn at that! I didn't know CatWoman had Shaven Haven. *Moomp*

...the fuck? Cartoon Porn? What does porn have to do with anything?
zooooom! Something musta flew past me. Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

Porn has to do with everything! Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
Jason: You didn't notice that the page Topher linked to is filled w/ drawings of virtually unclothed women (or, at least, something vaguely reminiscent of human females)?

I admire any artist who has the ability to make nipples show through leather.
Bravo, I say!

And I dig up this thread yet again! I was in the photographic mood today and snapped 22 pictures of my collection! I cropped these ones rather than resize them, so some images are pretty wide and/or tall.
Here's an ensemble shot of them all on the shelf I used to carry them outside and display them on.
Here are the cars. I took a few shots of these. 12345678910
And for those of you who don't recognize the cars, here's a shot with captions.
I took shots of the trucks, only not as many as the cars. 12345
SJ is not wacky. It is nothing but foggy. Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
So true, so true... Don't you just love going across the Harbour Bridge and not being able to see anything save for white?
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
Go Canada!
But, when can anyone look anywhere in Canada without seeing anything but white? Or polar bears? Or flannel and mittens?
Poor Colorado.

White fog.
And there is an extreme absence of snow now. For it is now the season of construction.

Once again I drag this thread out of the ether. Since the last posting there's been new models, a new shelf and a new house, so here we go.
I just took some general ensemble pictures of the models on their shelf. I didn't move anything around yet.
And here's one with captions in case you can't figure out what they all are. One with a keen eye will notice that the blue Bronco and the orange Mustang are a bit different since last time. Posted by Styrofoaman (Member # 706) on :
Amazing work. My hands shake too much now to do that kind of fine detail.
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
I guess plastic fumes could do that to a man.. ;-)
Posted by The359 (Member # 37) on :
Why in the world did you take the roof off the Bronco? Or could those do that...?
By the way, what scale are all your cars in? 1/43? 1/18?
And I suggest working on the Olds 442. It'd be fitting to finish it now instead of later.
I'm still debating what model to buy next (once I get any money). I'm considering the Original-Teile Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR, a Team Oreca PlayStation Chrysler Viper GTS-R, the Team Oreca PlayStation 2 Dallara-Judd LMP, a Toyota GT-One, an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage (British Racing Green, of course), or an VitaPhone Opel Astra V8 Coupe from the DTM.
Now, if only someone made a 1/18th scale Team Abt Red Bull/PlayStation 2 Audi TT-R, I'd be happy, because I'd have the DTM trifecta.

The Broncos had removable tops, yes. And my models are in 1:24/1:25 scale.

Wanna try a Trek model? I'd send ya one...
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
I don't know how well I could do with a Trek model, or if I even have the right colours... I do have Canadian Voodoo Gray, though! I'd want to do a Starfleet ship, if any... Are there any kits that would be of a size comparable to a 1:24 scale car kit?
Posted by Peregrinus (Member # 504) on :
Think the closest is the 1:72 Runabout kit. Wait -- how big was AMT's old TOS shuttle kit? Or the main bridge?
Or do you mean that would take up the same amount of shelf space?
The biggest mass-produced Trek kits are a bit shy of two feet long (18"-22", usually). The biggest Trek kit I know of at all is the Excelsior kit in 1:537 scale -- same as the movie Enterprise kits from AMT. Sucker's about a metre long, and I want one.
My personal ideal is to eventually have a 1:1400 representation of each Starfleet ship class, from at least TOS on. Wish me luck.
For now, though, Chris. I have a couple extra TOS and movie Enterprises from the first three-ship set in 1:2500. They're about 9 or 10cm long. Still unassembled, not even cleaned up from where they were removed from the sprues. I can do any amount of prep work you might like, or not. If you care for any, let me know. I might also be persuaded to part with one of my 1:1400 Enterprise-D kits.

All the Starfleet ships are available made in 1400th: with the exceptions of the BOBW ships and a few of the DS9 kitbashes anyway.
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
I suppose I could try one of those 1:2500 Movie Enterprises. Although god knows when I'd be able to get around to building them. Maybe after exams...
Posted by Peregrinus (Member # 504) on :
Okay, so far as I know, these are the classes we're missing in 1:1400. Most of these used to be represented, but I can't find them any more...
