Right now, I am sitting next to my newest toy, just waiting for my phone to ring so Casey can tell me that the garage is ready for an install...
Dial-up users: It's a little slow to load...

It's sad when Americans have become so lazy that we need a friggin' REMOTE CONTROL for our friggin' CAR STEREOS. I guess it's "too far to reach."
PS - that wasn't directed at you, LOA. Congrats on the stereo. Mine came with a little remote too ... I don't know what happened to it. I just think its sad that we NEED remotes for car stereos!!!!!

My cousin got a remote for his car stereo. He just leaves it sitting in the cup holder, a few inches away. Of course, he uses it instead of reaching those few inches. He says, since it came with it, he might as well use it.

It's installed!!! Yay!!! I'll have pictures done tomorrow to go in the scrapbook
About the remote - my last deck (Alpine 7963) had a remote as well, which I never used myself, but it did get a TON of great use - I have kids in my back seat a lot and they're always wanting to change the station and stuff, so I just toss the remote in the back with them, and let them go crazy. It's easier than trying to keep up
And as for getting good speakers, that would imply that I don't already have good ones I'm January, I did a "minor" upgrade on my speakers, switching out the stocks for a set of 6.5" MB Quart Components up front and 5.25" Infinity Kappas and MB Quart tweeters in the back. All done up with 12 and 16 guage wire, of course... And their own amp. 2 channel, unfortunately, but I'm hoping to switch that out with a 4 channel REALLY soon.
I'm pretty much addicted. And I can't wait until tommorrow when I go through and get the new deck set up! So many features, so little time..... Whee!!!!!

As many people wreck while paying more attention to their stereo than the road, how much worse will it be when they're trying to find the remote down in the seat?

At least it's not the pop-up LCD screen type that he bought... imagine having that display the foward sensor scan LCARS.
Anyway, looks damn good LOA... how much was it?

By "many people" you of course mean "LOA, LOA and, again, LOA." Oh well, I guess if you've run out of excuses with the insurance company, it'll be a nice change for them to hear a new one. 8)

Ouch! *L* Again, I don't use the remote myself, it usually just sits in the second din storage space, and I'd just like to point out that as of yet, I've not been in a SINGLE accident that was car stereo OR cell phone involved So, nyah!
And it cost more than I reasonably should be paying but a lot less than stickered - I walked out that door with it at $400 (I was wearing my Hooters shirt, for the record!)... it's stickered at $550, plus install fees (free for me!) so I did pretty okay... and I'm selling my old deck to a friend for $200, so I'll recoup some of that $$$...
But about the motorized screen...... I currently intend to have one installed in my car within the next year... I'm just waiting for the end-of-year clearence sales
Anyway, I'm off to program my stereo now.... TTYL!

That's a very nice shirt. But I'm sure it looks better when you're wearing it.

If anyone tried to mess around with the stereo in my car I would hurt them. Giving people in the back seat a remote? I am not entirely comfortable with them having the use of their hands, much less control over critical systems.

When it's me in the car with MY music, you'd better believe no one gets to touch the stereo, but when I've got the kids in the car, I usually end up putting in music I don't like anyway (mine's not really sppropriate, sometimes) so I don't mind at all letting then change the station... keeps 'em quiet at least!
And, I don't have any pictures of me WEARING the Hooters shirt yet..... but I've got this: I wanna rock!

Once you've seen one gorgeous woman in a Hooters shirt, you've seen them all.
A picture of a gorgeous woman rockin' at the microphone? Damn sexy.
