My computer is becoming quirky, and I don't like it too much. Every now and then it'll do this thing where it won't interpret IE's history or something and marks every thread etc that I've read on Flare as unvisited links even though the history says I've been there. And just now I closed IE, opened it up again, it paused for a minute and when it opened up IE on Flare it said I wasn't logged in, but I hadn't logged out.
Also, I'm having troubles with Outlook again. Its not sending spam to my ASDB folder anymore, however when I get emails from ASDB members, I get a copy in my Inbox and the ASDB folder.
I'm running XP Pro with IE6 and Outlook 2002.

The IE problem is easy - it's a bug. A known bug, to boot.
See, IE will continue to stick stuff in the cache, history, etc, directories, even though you set size limits. You can reduce the frequency of the problem by clearing out the cache on a weekly basis.

Damn those annoying bugs!
So . . . remind this oh-not-so-technically-minded person how to empty the cache, please. I probably already know the answer, buried beneath all the stuff that I learnt at university and work, but can't for the life of me remember.

AKB: Tools menu, Internet Options, then look for Temporary Internet files and do Delete Files.

My Outlook Express stared eating all of my e-mail last week. I open the program, it cheacks my mnail, tells me I have x amount, when I try tio see it, it's not there anymore. No one seems to know why.
I should have mentioned this here before. I'm using Opera now, but it's shareware, and I can't attach files and the like.

Here's a stumper for ya. Every time I reset Win XP, it defaults to being 2002, I have to manually reset the year to 2003. Replaced battery and tried with internet-time ON and OFF.

After emptying the Temp Internet Files, and logging back in a couple of times, I got my history back.
Still stumped about Outlook, though. I had problems with Outlook before, and did as suggested and made each rule end with "and stop processing more rules", but I still get doubles of emails.

Ah... don't you run Windows Update? I do and it keeps IE6 and my XP Pro stable... unless I run Java when I go to lcarscom.net . Then it crashes. Other than that... it's fine.

A friend of mine has a problem. None of her removable media drives work. No CD-Rom, no burner, no floppy. Windows sees them, the CMOS does not; this is what I'm told; she hasn't let me poke or prod it since so many others have tried in the past.
I'm thinking maybe...data cable problems? I dunno.

I don't run WinUpdate. It tends to mess up the way I do things. Patches for programs stop working. Although it prevents me from having Java, which is annoying at times. Does anyone know of any way to get Java support for IE6 without using WinUpdate?

I actually downloaded Sun's Java plug in... the previous versions were fine until I downloaded the newer ones. Damn.
