I've completely had it with Linux. You spend more time debugging and wrestling with config files than actually using your computer. Windows has it's problems, but at least Windows works.
Anyway.. I installed Mandrake 9.1 next to XP. Everything seemes to work like charm. Mandrake instantly recognized most of my nForce devices, and had no problems with my USB mouse or my DVD-ROM. Even Lilo worked.
The next day, I booted to Windows, and.. no mouse. Even worse, no USB whatsoever. And no error messages or anything. So I booted back into Linux to see if it could be a hardware problem. And all my USB works again. And it gets weirder. When I reboot from Linux, choose Windows in lilo, USB *works* in Windows. But when I shut down the PC, and boot directly to Windows, no USB. The "fuck"!?
I have now deleted Linux out of frustration, and connected the mouse to PS/2. But still no USB in Windows, and no errors whatsoever. The kind people of linuxquestions.org apparently couldn't be bothered to help me, and I'm completely clueless as to what's going on here. How can Linux screw up Windows? Even after I've completely formatted the partition it was on? And why doesn't Windows 'see' USB isn't working?

When you installed Mandrake, where did you place Lilo? In the root partition or the MBR?

In the MBR. And yes, I already did FIXMBR from the XP CD. Got rid of lilo, but no USB.
