Looks like LOTR got the recognition they deserved for such a great series.

You forgot to mention they won Best Picture, too.
They really did thank everybody in New Zealand.

I didn't expect it, actually.
But I really think he deserved it - the amiable little Hobbit that is called Peter Jackson. ;-)
Come on, how can anyone NOT like that guy?
Posted by Veers (Member # 661) on :
Well, they definitely deserved it, and the Academy voters knew this, so they probably all decided to give 'em it all for the last film.

Tora,
It's not so much that I forgot it, just that I posted this thread about, I don't know, four seconds? after PJ won the award, which was about half an hour to an hour (these things always drag on and on and on) before the Best Picture award was given out.

What'd they do, snub your car-friend?

I'm sorry, what's Lord of the Rings?

I hate to spoil the mood, but I thought Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World was a better film.

Really?
I liked that flick but the whole insertion of the Galapogos Islands and the ship's doctor being a naturalist was a bit much.

Individually?
Or...
What? Because every one of them contributed to the film?

I never bother watching awards shows, but it's no surprise to me that he won Best Director. The damn movie made over a billion U.S. dollars worldwide in only four months and I haven't even watched it yet. I'm saddened by the absence of any Oscar awards for the incomparable Dumb and Dumberer. Truly a shame when a major awards event neglects a modern classic in favor of movies that simply grossed more money.

Cujo - did it even get a Rassie??

Paul Walker?

Either Mr. Cujo is the new master of the deadpan, or... well, the alternative is too disturbing.

Were any of the Matrix films nominated for Rassies?

Dumb and Dumberer was nominated for Worst Screen Couple, Worst Screenplay and Worst Remake or Sequel. Gigli stole the first two awards. Revolutions was nominated for Worst Director, and I wholeheartedly agree with the decision.
