Mabye my eye just fixated on "Hitler" as a red-flag for blogs.
Right up there with other watchwords like "Consparicy", "Aliens" and "Furries".

65th anniversary of the invasion of Poland, which triggered the Second World War. Seemed noteworthy to me. [Smile]

It's also the annaversary of the invention of DDT, a flood and famine in mainland China that left 25 million homeless and a massive Turkish earthquake that completely destroyed the city of Erzincan- killing almost the entire population of 25,000.
Throughout Turkey some 50,000 died.
A pretty bad year all around, really.

In case you thought the rest of the world was doin' okay except for Poland. [Wink]

Read The Pessimist's Guide to History sometime for an enlightening dose of extremely depressing disease, disaster, inhumanity, slaughter and just really bad luck.

Might make for an intresting footnote to your blog though: comparing today's troubles with those of, say, a generation or two ago.
