Anyway, thought I'd post some photos, since now I can take digital ones! Whoopeee! (Oh - I got a Nikon Coolpix 3200).

These images are kind of large, so be warned -- eventually I'm going to have to figure out how to size 'em down.

First, what I did most of the day, Snay doing drinky-drink at his parent's place!

Then we have some apartment photos: This one I call "dining room with glowy-eyed cat." This photo is of the living room - hard to make out the TV set, true, but you can see my DVD collection, albeit perhaps not well. Last but not least, the kitchen - note Bumblebee Man atop the fridge: Ay Caramba!

Anyhoo, Merry Christmas!

IKEA LAMP & CHAIR WITH FOOTREST. GOOD MY BOY.

(also, Kill Bill & Babzia 5 collection?)

Baileys? Tasty but dangerous to admit to.

Nim,

Would you like a closer look? Here is a photo of the top shelves. And here is a photo of the bottom shelf.

Nice sword.

The one on the wall? My grandfather's army sabre.

Wait, you actually bought the SE release of TFF? That's one hole in my collection that I'm actually proud of! [Razz]

All these years I thought Jeff was black for some reason.

Nice Futura Enterprise by the Remote- did I send you that?

Cool Futurama ship on the bookcase.

Good Army Sabre- BAD cheesy Highlander swords.
Sooooo bad.
(I'm a sword snob- I cant help it)

I want a cat who's eyes alwaysglow like that.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

1. I have two of them - I'm not sure if that's the one you sent me or not. The other is on a shelf by the kitchen.

2. Dah! $25 bucks to buy it off eBay from Germany and have it shipped. But it was worth it.

3. The ones above the DVDs are actually quite nice, and there's a better replica leaned in the corner of the apartment.

4. So do I, but she's an evil cat so we'll just have to live.

There are also more photos on my blog, if anyone is interested.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

I uploaded some more photos. This one has TWO weird glowing-eyed cats!

And this next one is of my computer desk. Jason, yes, that is the Enterprise you sent me, there.

And of course, how would this all not be complete without a photo of my Lego work space.

Hey, nice coffee table!

Man, I wish I had such a set up for my models as you do for your Legos!
One more month and I will....

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Two folding tables and a wall-mounted shelf unit from IKEA.

It's actually an old chest my gramps made.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

There is no IKEA in Florida.
None.

I had to go all the way to San Fransisco for my cheap imported lamps/barstools/junk.

Here we have "Rooms to Go", which I'm convinced is run by the mob.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Eh, I'm sure you can get wall mounted shelves somewhere. Besides, that model has been discontinued for a fear years by now.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

"Fear Years"?
Sounds like a graphic novel in the making...

I'll post pics of my new place once I move in.

I'm getting a TWO bedroom apartment for $10 more than my small ONE bedroom apartment so I should be able to store all my stuff and have a computer/model room.

To quote the robot cop from Futurama:
Awwwww Yeah.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

I'm quite taken by that chest as well. But good God, man, that is a lot of Lego. Oh, we finally updated our Gallery page, BTW. Got a pic up of me with my little Star Destroyer. 8)

:: shrug :: The idea probably came from the same place that told me Omega was Hispanic with long hair, that Topher was a redhead, and that Liam walked around in semi-formal ware all the time.

I was wrong on all counts.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

I'm a albino dwarf in a red tuxedo, if that helps.
Omega is covered in prison gang tatoos.
Andrew is ten years old.
Liam has no right leg- it's artificial.
LOA is wanted in six states for manslaughter, thus her appearance changes weekly.
All of Jay's photos come from the Greyhound lost and found.
Sol has multiple facial piercings.

Posted by Jay the Obscure (Member # 19) on :

I refuse to give up hope that Liam dresses like Hugh Grant.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

I was actually pretty close to correctly guessing what LOA looked like. I was only off on the hair color (which I imagined as being blonde).

And we all know that Sol is actually Johnny Cash with crimson hair and a Cuban cigar.

For you Snay O' The Lego:
Rebel Scum has a photo of Lego's version of one of the new ships from Episode III. I don't recall if an image of the actual ship has been on the internet yet:

Oooh - hadn't seen that one before. I saw a photo of the new Jedi Starfighter set a month back. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Wow. Rebelscum has a whole ton of shit.

First, "Darth Vader Transformation."

Second, Droid Scout Walker!

Third, Wookie Attack!

Fourth - and holy shit is this a cool looking thing - The Final Duel?

Fifth is the new Jedi Starfighter. Galactic Hunter actually posted this about a month or two ago. This set is going to be one of the "preview sets", released in Feb., rather than May as the rest will be.

I guess we know where your money is going... [Wink]

Hey, Jeff, in your picture of your Lego workspace, what is that you're working on stretched across the table? It looks like you're laying the keel to the Titanic.

Y'know...it's growing on me.
I wish they'd have used it instead of the version from Ep.I with it's sitting duck hyperdrive ring that gets left in orbit.

I heard from a reliable source that the Jedi Star Fighter will begin production in 2008, making the older F-14 and F/A-18 obso1337.

Sieg,

Y'know that big Lego capital starship I'm always talking about building? Well, that was one attempt. I'm tearing it down because a) I don't like it, and b) I didn't build any "view points" into the lower deck so you can't see the cargo bay, galley, or mess hall. Grrr.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Here's another from Rebelscum:

I find it slightly irritating that all the models are out more than six months before the movie has even premiered. The kids don't even have the context of the toy yet.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Nothing is "out" yet- these are promo shots.

Check out Toyfare and action Figure Monthly for the best scoops on any upcoming sci-fi movie or major video game.
The Merchansdising angle has to be ready more than a year in advance of the movie's debut so it can be pushed to retauilers.
We just have better access to that kind of "behind the scenes" stuff now- thanks to Al Gore's invention, the Internet.

Here's what Snay's latest link should look like:

Are kids even the market for these things?

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Well, the inner kids, yes. Lego sets are a bit too expensive for most kids' allowances nowadays.

Jeff: what you have built looks pretty cool. Did you ever come up with a definite list of the types of equipment and facilities your Legoship would have?

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Not quite. Actually, I scrapped most of the tech stuff I had and looked up a layout for a WWII sub -- my original model had (from the fore on back) --

Forward Torpedo Room
Officers Wardroom & Bunks
Control Room
Crew Mess & Bunks
Mechanical Room
Engineering Compartment
Aft Torpedo Room

Then I decided to add a lower deck, and I put in more crew bunks, a larger galley, a medical ward, and a cargo bay. But then I figured I could do it all better, and that *thing* on my desk is the seventh or eighth version!

I actually haven't worked on it at all since before Thanksgiving. I'm going to give it another go shortly.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Before I give it another go, though, I need to disassemble that thing and sort all the pieces. In August, September, and early October, I was moving at such speed with the project that I probably ordered close to $400 worth of bricks off Bricklink. Much are in that clear plastic tub above those blue tubs. I need to get all that crap sorted out.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

So you've got about a half-dozen hours of Lego wrecking and sorting ahead of you?

At least you have the room to vent your creative outlets. I've got a half-dozen Zoids model kits sitting on a shelf in my room that I haven't put together yet because I lack the space.

Posted by Mighty Blogger Snay (Member # 411) on :

Don't you have an apartment? How are you lacking in space? Take over the kitchen!!!!!

Posted by Nim' (Member # 205) on :

-"Wow Snay, this rabbit fricassee is really delis-*blorg* *cough* GAK!!"
-"What is it, Ginger? *pries maw open* Gasp! I've been looking all over for that corner piece!! Don't swallow, your bellyjuices might bleach it!"

Jeff, I had to move back in with my parents last summer. Things between my former roommate and I went south (very long story), so I sucked it up and did the oh-my-god-this-traffic-sucks commute to school.

Now that I've graduated, I'm trying to find a job so that I can move back out of here. So far, the job hunt has been one crushing blow to my self-esteem after another. Working at Wal-Mart is beginning to look appealing.

I'd rather work at Wally-World than live with my family again...

Zoids are not models...No.

Cool old toys though- they've been around about 15 years now in some form or another.
Check Ebay for the gadwafulhuge T-Rex and brachiosaorus from waaay back.

People's priorities are all screwed up. Siggy regales us with chapter and verse about his adventures at the campus housing office, but doesn't give us the real juicy stuff about the bust-up with his room-mate. For shame.

I don't line up all my models and re-enact the final battle of the Guylos-Helic War in my bedroom; they just sit on my shelf. Plus, if I can be injured putting it together, then I can call it a model.

I'm mainly sticking to the current lines of Zoids, but some of the older models appeal to me (the Mammoth looks cool) and might be worth acquiring. Except for the hot-pink Ultrasaurus kit from the late '80s.

But the adventures in campus housing are amusing and entertaining stories. The fallout between my roommate and I is not. The short story is that something made my roommate snap. I don't know what happened, but whatever it was made him so angry that he took it out on me.

He refused to speak to me. He deliberately did things to try and irritate or provoke me. He moved his girlfriend into the apartment, and they pretty much forced me to stay holed up in my room. He harrassed my cat, broke my furniture, and wound up walking off with a good amount of my kitchenware as well as all of the deposit money (about $400 of which is mine). He treated me with contempt and disdain for about six months, and he did from a position of perceived superiority and righteousness. Any attempt I made to figure out what was going on was met with silence.

So, in other words, your roomate was a total fucking dick licker.

I'm sorry, dude.
