OK, I was reading this interview with Alexander Siddig just then.

Can someone else read it - is he trying to distance himself from Trek? I was a little confused by the last sentence.

As I said in another thread I hadn't realised he and Nana Visitor had parted ways. I hadn't realised he had had so many roles recently. I saw him in the preview for Syriana... I probably last saw him in that climbing movie with Chris O'Donnell - he was a shirpa. I was happy to see him in roles outside of Trek - I also don't like seeing though, these Trek actors getting cocky and dissing Trek when they get a bit more successful.

I think it was stupid though that Oliver Stone refused to have him on Alexander because he was a previous Trek cast member. What an idiot. Why would you do that? Never saw Alexander anyway - I don't think it got good reviews and it had that insufferable Colin Farrel in it.

I don't think he's trying to distance himself, just trying to highlight what else he's done since then. Since he was joking around a lot in the rest of the interview, that's how I took that last line. Unfortunately, you really can't tell.

But there was one quote I very much disagree with. He said that DS9 was "a good show in the dying days of mass interest in sci-fi." I can't back it up with numbers, but I think there's a lot more sci-fi now than there was then. It gets diluted some with the number of channels available now, but I think it still stands.

:edit: Oh, and Oliver Stone is an ass.
