I have recently been pinched by the campus ITS gestapo & therefore cannot get online as readily as I used to. I work in a pizza place for a big-nosed Peruvian who looks like a Weeble. I like to have parties occasionally throughout the year, always fro Chinese New Year & then at various other times. These non-New Year parties are invariably referred to as "BreastFests." And yet, I always end up going to bed alone. Hm.

About my alcoholic comment that was just a joke. You could say I'm addicted to the internets since I spend a lot of my time on the computer. I'm of Puerto Rican decent and I reside in the borough of New York City known as the Bronx. As far as I can tell I'm the only Trek fan in the Bronx. Hi, my name is Jason and I am an alcoholic.
I remember the good ole days, a six pack of 40 ouncers, a fifth of run, a pack or two of smokes, and the behaviour group.
I had a son, a wife, and a decent job in there somewhere once.
The only thing left from that list is the two packs of smokes a day, and I picked up a bit of depression someplace.... I'll give someone here one or the other, your choice. No charge.
Drew, are you sure you should have started this thread????

Ritten, I'm sorry to say that I can't take your depression, 'cause I've got my own, and I don't want the smokes. Sorry.
I currently work retail full-time, but it's actually much more fun and less soul-crushing than you might think. (That's only because of the company I work for and the people I work with, not because of my personality or the nature of retail.) Although it has still completely reinforced my opinion of the complete and utter stupidity of 90+% of humanity...

I love the design section. Interesting about the Akira design - there is no denying that it is Sovereign Class - era instead of pre-TNG to fit with the 5xxxx registry number. I like the sketch from behind of the shuttle bays. I also like the idea of it being able to seperate!

Thanks. It was redesigned earlier this year. I haven't worked on it really since then. Maybe due in part to a lack of new Trek and my job does suck the life out of me. But yep, had that site since 1998, may not be the most popular or well known Trek site, but I'm proud of my work.
And since we're trying to be more social I will show my room well part of it anyway, the part I spend most of my time anyway. In a perfect world I would spend more time in the other part with my bed and Jessica Alba.
But as it is, I spend most of my non-work time driving my most favorite toy, a 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i.

I got a new computer recently - but have been very busy that I haven't had a chance to do too much with it. It has a sexy 24" widescreen monitor.
I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
I like Star Trek obviously. At the moment like a lot of you here I'm in love with Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Lost and Dr. Who.
I'm yet to catch up on Atlantis, BSG and Lost as I've been busy. Haven't watched Torchwood yet either.
Music wise I like lots but I'll give a few ideas:
Tori Amos Bjrk PJ Harvey Radiohead The Smashing Pumpkins Sarah McLachlan Imogen Heap Regina Spektor Kate Bush Loreena McKennitt
to name but a few.
I procrastinate a lot. As can be seen by not replying to this thread sooner. Having said that I'm ringing up now about my computer - the left speaker buzzes at certain frequencies. Grr.

YAY! Flare meetups!
Posted by Mikey T (Member # 144) on :
Wow... I feel like I'm in a 12 Step meeting. Here's my story:
I'm 24 years old and came to the United States back on January 22, 1990 in Los Angeles. I'm Filipino but most assume I'm Filipino-American because I sound like every gay valley boy there is. Yes... I'm gay, a homo, a meat stick smoker, a pansy with a pair of 5 inch gogo boots. I have two younger sisters so my house is full of estrogen. Just look at them since they are in my top 8 buddy list on Myspace (the link is in my Flare profile).
I'm a senior political science major at Cal State Northridge and I work for GoTV Networks, a mobile content firm in Sherman Oaks, Ca that creates original video conent (www.gotvnetworks.com) as the Quality Assurance Lead. Yes, it doesn't jive with my major but I'm a huge tech geek and its paying me to geek out everyday.
I've been involved with leadership positions since I started watching Star Trek: TNG when I was 9... hence my involvement with the US Democratic Party. I currently sit on the Stonewall Young Democrats Executive Board as Secretary and represent the group within the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley's Executive Board as the club rep. I plan on running as 2nd Vice Chair for DPSFV in Feb 2007 where if I win, I'll be the youngest officer of a club that represents 5% of the Democrats in California.
Aside from school, work, and politics, I am a Trekkie with a preference for TNG, DS9, TOS, VOY, and a fe ENT episodes. I like Windows and Mac, prefer Sony Ericsson phones with some visual attachment to Motorola handsets, like warm weather, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf with Peet's Coffee over Starbucks, Corollas and Civics over BMW's, and a good long fuck or two during the day.
My name is Michael btw...
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Hmmm - California is too easy - you should try and "represent" in Alabama or Kentucky!
Posted by Johnny (Member # 878) on :
Well it'll be no great surprise that my name's John. I'm a 22 year old studying Graphic Design at Westminster Uni here in London. I'm an all-round scifi fan. Star Trek's always been my fav show, but that interest has waned in the last few years. Now I have my fingers in many science fictiony pies, BSG, Stargate and Doctor Who being at the top of my list.
Away from TV shows I'm in to photography, drawing, architecture and the odd bit of CG work.
There are some fairly recent pics of me on my crappy Myspace page.
Posted by Mikey T (Member # 144) on :
Yeah... like California doesn't have its own colorful set...

Posted by Mikey T (Member # 144) on :
Kewl. I can't put mine in initials... too long.
Example: MNMTC expands into something way too long. Hence the nickname CoffeeAddictMike. It's like a brand... of a coffee addicted, Star Trek loving, geeky flashy techie guy.
Posted by Timo (Member # 245) on :
For the past decade and a half, I've successfully nurtured the clever impression that the name found at the end of each of my posts is my own.
I'm 34, something of a crossbreed between inorganic chemist and semiconductor engineer, usually a baritone but currently experimenting on infrasounds due to a holiday-long flu. I'm interested in well-constructed alternate realities and generally fictitious approaches to life, and freakishly omnipresent according to some, yet physically detached from the civilized world by the Baltic Sea. I have no homepage or other traceable net presence to speak of.
I love the world in all its myriad little details and delightful perversions, and generally am not cruel to animals (but I do like the outdoors). I'm still searching for a fashionable ailment I could parade here. Like apparently so many others here, I do have a massive alcohol problem, but I'm managing the inflow by donating to as many as I can. I'm also very territory-minded, staking out cities and counties with unhealthily long bike trips. I swim, too, having last year discovered the joys of the monofin.
Umm, that's probably about it. Except that I dig flying but tend to get motion sickness up there; riding, but am mortally allergic to equines; and outer space, but was born a century too early. My favorite color is the particular kind of golden white found in the contrails of the last flight for the evening, and my favorite taste is ripe avocado. As for religion, I prefer Freefall.
And yes, I type English the way a modestly important Indian civil servant speaks it. You really don't want to hear my accent.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
OMG Timo - LOL Your errr paintballing pic...
You always seemed a bastion of straight-lacedness and I see that - It's shattered all my mental images!
P.S. Who applied the pegs?
Posted by Timo (Member # 245) on :
Hmh? You should just see me laced straight, then. I can do 22-inch waists and 8-inch heels.
The pegs are for losing the first round. Some 500m x 800m of suitably forested playground, 5 minutes lead time, 15 minutes playtime. Remember your goggles, and hers, and it's quite safe. Although not particularly sane.
(The bambi version is a bit more interesting, but not rated for general audiences. And yes, I'd already been doing this for quite some time when that Las Vegas bunch did their silly fake kiddie video. This is what the markers were REALLY invented for. )

My name is... well see, I have a thing about directly using my real name on the intartubes, but it's bX where I can get away with it and Orlando Furioso (a hold-over from playing in bands) elsewheres. In addition to playing the saxophone, I'm probably taller than you and it's very likely that I weigh more. So it's not like a threatening thing. If you really wanted to, you could find me on MySpace where you could discover through pictures that I look more like a fat Philip Seymour Hoffman than a fat Cary Elwes.
In Silicon Valley, CA where I live, I inhabit what Snay would call an awesome space, but in reality is a rather cold and smelly warehouse. Which at the moment is over-cluttered with a variety of detritus from various projects, chief among them shooting my original sci-fi series on the pittance left over from my rent.
I did indeed have a rather enjoyable geek-out session with Peregrinus a few days back and some years back had beers with the elusive bearded one. If things work out and I can get to Australia next Xmas, I might have to look up one AndrewR for similar beer'n'trek fare.
