They're talking about retiring CVN-65 Enterprise as early as 2012, to save on maintenance of its eight-reactor generator system.
There's a petition to name CVN-79, the second Ford-class carrier, Enterprise.

I already knew that. It's been known for at least two years the she was to be retired sooner than orginally planned. And the petition has been around for I'd say at least half a year.

Then it's safe to say the thread isn't aimed at you but at those who didn't know?
I wonder if the Ford-class will have the F-35 as the majority of its complement. Perhaps a couple of railguns too, like the one installed on the USS Kidd.

F-35's? Dunno enough about them, asides from things i don't think i should talk about (not that i know much from my POV and rate experiance). They'll probably replace legacy Hornets, not unlike how Hornets replaced Corsair's in the late 80's and Intruders in the mid 90's.
