So, I was sitting there, and, well, I was sitting there you know, and, well, I just sat there.

But then I had a thought, a random thought, and it was a thought about a thought, and, as they say, while they sit there, the thought is what counts.

Really though, what's everyone doing these days?

Me, I am sitting here thinking thoughts of sitting here for a while.

I also see some profiles that are dated...

I'm thinking many things. For instance: I'm wondering how my date tomorrow will go.

I'm also still flabbergasted by he fact that I have a month until I start college...and I still have a shitload of forms and payments to get into them...

I'm also replaying the last 4 years in my head, wondering how the hell high school ended so fast.

Oh, and I'm also still in awe of the coolness of the new MacBook Pro I received as a graduation gift.

Sean, well I hope. Congrats on the graduation, but #2 son did that on May 21st. Then, being one to practice nepotism, I gave him a job, lol.

Pensive, wow dude, congratu-bummer-lations. Make your own job, I did for myself and I love it. I will live in a cardboard box before I work for someone else again.

Well I graduated from college in May with a BA in History and now I'm enrolled in Graduate School. And I became 22 in May as well.

Mars, my brother loves NYC, gets some of his favorite drugs in Central Park.

My #2 son got in to an accident with my pick up. Didn't pay attention and pulled in to traffic, got Teed by a woman in a RAV4. 13 days after getting his driver's license.

Too true, Jeff has that Deer Whisperer thing going on.

It was his fault, so my insurance is covering her car. He left turned after the arrow went out, without clearing traffic. No bodily injuries though, so that is a great thing.

Was there a big fee to get on the ballot?

I often think I should run for Congress- I could run on a platorm of brutal honesty: kind of a "Fuck Everyone" platorm.
Now to find a district with an impossibly high number of punks and lowlifes to represent (and to get them to actually vote after the free beer, pre-voting party that some chaos-friendly PAC will throw).

Today, i am retired from the Navy (subject to recall back to active duty for the next 10 years, however), unemployed for the first time in 2 decades and a prospective colledge student.

Nice sig. I remember seeing posters with that slogan at Great Lakes. Better than that "America's Navy: A Global Force for Good" crap they're trying.

"Let the Journey Begin" and "It's not just a job, it's an adventure" were my two favorite slogans.

Sea the world... I did. Considering most of the planet is ocean, I saw plenty of the world.

Since i'm still on retainer as the Fleet Reserve, i don't think i can bad mouth much yet... but yeah, the current slogan is such pretencious bullshit 'A global farce...'

but it's the kids Navy. Not mine, anymore...

I was in the same boat as Ritten. Got fired from my job in early 2009 by a jerkass of a boss who said he had my interests in heart but was nothing more than a lying cocksucking assfucking not-a-man. It also didn't help that he went through great pains to deny me of a job at other prospects (certainly illegal). I did end up suing the company but due to an air-tight employment contract that guaranteed that I was entitled to almost no money in the event of termination without cause, I ended up settling for far less than I wanted to sue for. Methinks that if I went all the way, perhaps I could have thrown these guys into the gutter. But I let my lawyer talk me out of doing so.

Nonetheless, the fucker-of-a-boss was still trying to find ways to sabotage my job prospects. Unfortunately despite all the damage he did, he did cover his tracks and other than words from my former co-workers, I had no evidence to fight back with. I did finally get a job last month, but it isn't at the level I was previously at and I essentially lost more than a year of my life.

Sometimes I do hope that a tornado appears on top of the house of my former douchebag boss and sucks him and his family up and tosses them all the way to China where they can enjoy the slave labour over there. Sure, I'm bitter, but the bitterness does get me through the day.

Let this be a lesson to all of you: 1) watch out for sleazeball bosses who try to take you into their confidence, and 2) read your employment contract so you know what you're getting into whenever you're starting a job.

My dad retired from the Navy too and was in fleet reserve. Not that I really need to tell you the odds of actually getting recalled are slim. Since they'd use the active and inactive reserves first. Considering the Navy's been downsizing by making reenlistment eligibility tougher, I wouldn't worry about it.

This July first, Sweden finally abolished its 109-year old law of mandatory service. It was supposed to have been done like ten years ago, but the old geezers running the SDF are stubborn to say the least.

6 and 7 seem to be the ones to retire at, not a lot of 8's at all.

Most countries had a two year stint of conscription.

Between 18-24 months IIRC, depending on the branch and assignment. They've been getting flak for not applying the SDF in meaningful ways the past couple of years, other than Afghanistan and Kosovo. It's grown into a very large, peace-time administrative officer corps, with thousands of majors and captains but few senior officers with experience.

We got this out of it, though. :.)
