No, not the mail company.
I have a Belkin 550VA UPS that supports 300 Watts.
I got a new computer not too long ago and hooked it up to the UPS. The PS is an Antec 500W power supply. Only the computer and the monitor are hooked into the battery backup of the UPS.
The condo I am in now has had a lot of brownouts as of late and rather than the UPS kicking in and providing power, it simply shuts down. Mind you, the UPS itself is more than 3 years old, but I also wonder if the computer itself overwhelms the UPS. My old computer used a 430W power supply and the UPS had no problems with it.
I may end up getting a new UPS but wonder if I need one that supports 500 Watts because those UPS's do not come cheap.
Thanks

It seems to me that you would need a UPS that can support at the very least your computer's PS and probably the monitor as well. This is why I don't have a UPS as I have a 750W PS and I can only imagine how much a UPS would be for it...
However, my PS has a 5 year warranty and I've had to replace it once (manufacturer defect, not because it was zapped).
