WASHINGTON (AP) - In a Sept. 8 story on 2001 federal crime statistics, The Associated Press reported that injuries from assaults fell 13 percent. That figure was only for aggravated assaults. Injuries from simple assaults fell 15.9 percent. Also, the AP reported 26 percent of criminals used a gun to commit their crimes. The actual figure is 9 percent.
That's a pretty BIG error.
