See Dick Be Jane
The country's youngest transgender child is ready for school. But is school ready for her?

Hmm...interesting. I suppose that if this is what will make the child most comfortable, then her decision should be respected. What's the school's response?(Sorry I didn't read the whole article because I'M LAZY) I tell you what though, those parents are really brave. They support their kid where most parents would just shun their children for such behavior.

Can a 5 year-old really comprehend a gender choice though?
Could this be a case of childhood androgeny and attention getting setting an irreversable tend for his life to come?

Only puberty will tell for sure, I suppose.

For some reason I was reminded about this thread, back in the day, regarding a deaf-mute couple who wanted their children to be deaf-mute. . .

I myself wondered if it was some reference to his daughter. . .

I've heard of babies that are born one gender, but the child believes they are of the opposite gender. You know, like a guy trapped in a girls body or vice versa.

I think it was on Discovery channel back before Monster Garage/Monster House/ American hot rod, american chopper, mythbusters. etc...

The courage to change the things I cannot accept.
And the wisdom to hide the bodies of all the people I had to kill today because they pissed me off.

Back when it was actually a good channel you mean?
Like when TLC was "The Learning Channel" and not "The queer home re-decorating channel".
Fuck, it's like they were somehow infected by the Lifetime network.

But I digress...

I wonder as to the parent's motivations on this- strangely enough it was commonplace for boys to wear dresses untill age eight or so as recently as the early 1900's, and such masculine figures like Teddy Rooseveldt and Douglas McArthur were once skirt-wearin' poodle-walkers!

Wait, how does "MythBusters" fit in with those?

It was the "Bad Wolf" channel, not Lifetime...

IIRC one of the reasons for dressing boys in dresses & pinks was the superstition that the "Boogyman" was believed to prefer snatching boys rather than girls. (Of course in San Fransisco that still holds true).
