Where does your country rank? http://www.nationmaster.com/graph-T/gov_cor&int=-1&int=-1
Something cool about this site- hold down control nad click on any country and you'll get lots of intresting data on it's political system.
Of course, it's possible that Finalnd boasts uncatchable master criminals and is just as corrupt as Nigria.

quote: "Now we call ourselves Russia. As if that could help us. We can't feed ourselves. We can't house ourselves. We can't even exterminate a bunch of fucking lousy Chechnians. It's just like with these fucking Finns! We owned them for eighty years. Then the Finns got smart with us. So we rolled in with tanks and the sons of bitches ran into their forests in the dark and the snow, and they kicked our ass! Even after we finally crushed them, and stole the best part of their country, they just came right back! Now it's fifty years later, and the Russian Federation owes Finland a billion dollars. There are only five million Finns! My country owes every single Finn two hundred dollars each!"
"It's that Marxist thing, ace." They walked on in silence.
"We're past the Marxist thing," said Khoklov, warming to his theme as the pill took hold. "Now it's different. This time Russia has a kind of craziness that is truly big enough and bad enough to take over the whole world. Massive, total, institutional corruption. Top to bottom. Nothing held back. A new kind of absolute corruption that will sell anything: the flesh of our women, the future of our children. Everything inside our museums and our churches. Anything goes for money: gold, oil, arms, dope, nukes. We'll sell the soil and the forests and the Russian sky. We'll sell our souls."

Canada is 1.3 on the Corruption index, while the U.S. is 2.5. And they say our country, under a Liberal government, is rife with corruption.
While we're at that site....

Yes, but as the US has twice Canada's population, you suck as much as we do, on adverage, my northern brother.

Interesting to note, most of the counties that are the least corrupt are the most secular. I wonder what that says about morals coming from god?

Measure What? Secularness? I am basing it on whether the country is a theocracy or whether they are run by a secular constitution. If you look at the ones closest to the bottom they are the ones which seem to be basing their societies on peoples rights as opposed to the rights assigned by religions.

You could as easily make a case for free elections limiting corruption. Or the availability of pornography, for that matter.

In any case, I'm fairly certain that the corruption index would have taken the different population sizes into account.

I dont know...I'm not certain as to the criteria for their corruption scaling. Do they include indictments or only convictions? Is it based on percenrtage of corrupt politicians/ not corrupt politicans in a given country? If so, the US would be very low on the scale (as we have a HUGE number of politicians and only a -relatively- small number of them get convicted of anything).
It's a great information site on various countries though.
So....you done writing your article(s?) yet? I've not seen your shadow on these boards in a while (or I missed it)?

I have been busy with getting a job Christmas and whatnot. I do have the Half-life 2 walkthrough book in front of me though. My mum read it and said it was very good. Which is nice, as I was sick of my computer illiterate parents phoning me up asking the best way to approach Nova Prospekt.

I was trying to think of an Optimus Prime quote, to be honest. Or at least have the Undertaker's entrance music acompany me. Both were beyond my abilities, so I apologise. Let's talk corruption!
