AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody who knows me knows that I rarely vent like this. But I'm getting really pissed off. UPN 38 has decided that hockey is more important than Voyager. They used to air Voyager Wednesday nights at 9:00 pm EST, but for the last 3 weeks they've aired *(&*((^$* hockey games. AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortuneately, I can catch Voyager on Fridays on ASN. Were it not for ASN, I'd be seriously pissed.

Thank you for your time. I really needed to let this out.

Reason #InsertNumebrHere as to why Voyager's ratings appear to be down.

I was enormously pissed when they yanked VOY from the local Fox station so it could be seen exclusively on UPN. I hope they learned their lesson: "Yank an established series from non-affiliated stations and lose market share".

Of ourse, I don't think that was the only (or even primary reason Voyager's ratings are in the toilet, but it is, I believe, a contributing factor.

This is why all forms of televised sports entertainment should be eradicated, or at least moved to pay-per-view. If you want to see something that badly, shell out the bucks. (and watch it die a quick death) Let the rest of us watch what is scheduled without pre-empting.

Hey, I don't mind when UPN 50 preempts VOY for a Red Wings game. 'Course, they always repeat it on Saturday, so I usually catch it again or at least manage to nab it on tape. UNLESS my sister fscks with the VCR like she did tonight... grr... now I won't get to see "One Small Step" until next summer.

Now this depends. If it's NHL hockey, then I would be mad. I only rarely watch an NHL game. But if it's Olympic or World Cup hockey, then I would rather watch the hockey than Voyager. Up here, the only network I watch hockey on is the CBC (far better broadcast than Fox's hockey-for-morons), and they don't have Voyager anyway And ratings for X-Files are far too good for Fox to preempt it luckily.

Right here, BBC2 have stopped Buffy and DS9 in the middle of two-parters. . . for SNOOKER. I kid you not. "Favor the Bold" is ending, the ships are off to DS9, and the cheery little voice comes on saying the show will be back soon.

Well, you see, I dislike all sports altogether. That's why I get so pissed.

For... snooker?! Now that is unforgivable.

*whispered commentary*
And as young Kevin Moffat comes to the table...he needs only one meatball to clinch the world title...zzzzzzz

In Scotland they used to pre-empt DS9 etc, when England actually was showing it. They used to put on curling instead.

Well, at least curling is a sport.

Ducky. Channel 9 just cut DS9 mid way through season 5. Luckily for me I've seen it on video, years back. But since I'm taping and keeping the episodes in a little collection all I can say is: 'You bastards!'.

I losely paraphrase from the rants of a stand-up comic who made a lot of sense: Sports are not news! They do not belong on the nightly news! Sports are entertainment! If you don't have the weekend movie box office totals between Traffic and Weather, then don't have Sports!

But you do have box office totals...

"It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns, and then he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?."
