Now, admittedly, I don't like Eminem either, but I thought Canadians were all for free speech. http://entertainment.msn.com/news/eonline/1027/eminem.asp ------------------ "Ed Gruberman, you fail to grasp Ty Kwan Leap. Approach me, that you might see." -- The Master

"There's one snag, eh."Good line. As for the article, one more good reason why we really should invade. Those Canadians could use some real freedom, instead of the charade they apparently have. ------------------ Pilot: You're sure they were Americans, eh? Ha. The politicians of Ontario do not speak for the whole country. Hell, they banned Harry Potter books in one part of Ontario. Oh well. The only thing that annoys some people is the import regs. They make it so it takes a while to get anything from the US. For instance, a friend sent me a book in the mail. It took about a month to get here because it was held up at customs.------------------ "He may not be a god, but on this ship, I am!" -Andromeda

America isn't exactly 100% freedom of speech either.Fabrux mentioned Harry Potter books being banned. Here in South Carolina parents have tried to have them banned from school libraries. ------------------ Calvin: "Isn't that weird?? Why would you possibly ban Harry Potter books, when they let books like the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kompf in libraries (my school library has a couple copies of both those books).------------------ Me: "Why don't you live in Hong Kong?" So is it that fantasies about killing your wife qualify as protected speech whereas claims that Christianity is a sham aren't? Is it that hip hop is on the way in, and any nation so deluded as to think that Manson's Alice Cooper stylings are "in" deserves a visit from the fashion police? I'm confused.------------------ love's function is to fabricate unknownnness -- E. E. Cummings **** Read chapter one of "Dirk Tungsten in...The Disappearing Planet"! And party everyday.

359: Well, you have to remember, these tend to be far-right-wing Christian fundamentalists who try to ban Potter. In fact, the only reason I chose to read the books was that those groups didn't like them. I figure, if they don't like something, chances are it's probably good... :-)And honestly, I was surprised. If you aren't bothered by reading something geared toward a younger age group, you might look into reading them. They aren't half-bad... And that's a general "you", not Matt specifically anymore. :-) ------------------ "You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend." -Yasir Arafat on religious wars

You do know that they are edited for US readers, don'tcha? Liam: Actually, I noticed that in the first one when I saw terms like "soccer" showing up. I didn't pay much attention in the second and third ones, but the fourth one, I've noticed, actually calls soccer "football", among other things. And the word "git" is in them often enough. I would think that would be more confusing to American kids than "football"... :-) ------------------ "You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend." -Yasir Arafat on religious wars
