No, I'm not going to make some soapbox political speech about which candidate should be the next president. No matter who wins later, I'm getting screwed over right now. Let me explain.I work at a non-profit recording studio for Books on Tape for the blind and physically handicapped, which is a contractor for the Library of Congress's government-funded recording program. I'm a manager and also a narrator (I actually narrated the October issue of Star Trek The Magazine). We're down to our last 50 or so books to record for the 2000 book contract, and were getting ready for the first shipment of 2001 contract books. Unfortunately, some governmental idiot accidentally tacked on our 2001 funding bill onto another, unrelated tax bill which Clinton just vetoed. In effect, our funding has been unknowingly vetoed as well. Normally, the oversight would be looked into ASAP; however, because of all this ridiculousness in Florida, Congress has adjourned until December. Now we are all facing the possibility that we will run out of work before any of this political mess is cleared up. No work, no paycheck. I hope things don't get bad. I'm still going to try to have a positive attitude at work. I just wanted to vent my frustration somewhere, and I thought this would be as good a place as any. ------------------ Homer: "I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman!"

What a cool thing to do! I hope that the funding goes though ok regardless of all the hassles. ------------------ Oh, yes, sitting. The great leveler. From the mightiest Pharaoh to the lowliest peasant, who doesn't enjoy a good sit? ~C. Montgomery Burns

Our recording studio is located in Bethesda, but I live in Laurel. Ever been there? It's a real dump. ------------------ Homer: "I'm not normally a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman!" [This message has been edited by Dukhat (edited November 16, 2000).]

Fear not! George W Bush, friend of charities and benefactor to the poor everywhere, will make things right!Sorry. Don't mean to be facetious, I just am. Hope it does get sorted out, somehow. ------------------ "I do prefer the arse, but you can't dismiss the leg. They're joined at the hip, so to speak." - Liam Kavanagh
