I went to the Library, and took out Harry Turtledove's 'How Few Remain', as it's apparently the prequel to his 'Great War' series. Thing is, I have little/no knowledge of the way the Actual Civil war progressed, which will probably hinder my reading.

I've searched the internet, and aside from the two stypes of sites which result ('SOUTH 4EVER!! ZZTOP! DOWN WITH COLORED!', and 'The Civil War is not over. We still must plant car bombs and kill babies to stop the opression'.) Niether of which help much.

So does anyone have a concise summary of the Civil War in their heads, or sites with same?

I could name lots books too. However, I'll just say along those lines that the best one volume treatment of the period is James McPherson's Battle Cry of Freedom.

Oh!! And if you want an excellent read in historical Civil War fiction, I highly recommend The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara.
