First we have this.

Then we learn that Vice President Dick Cheney was CEO of Halbright, a company that apparently "cooked" its books and had Arthur Anderson as its accounting firm, to boot.

What's the thoughts on this?

Does Dick Cheney deserve to go to jail for his role in the same type of behavior that brought down Enron and WorldCom? Is this another example of capitalism run amok, and cause for government intervention?

Dick Cheney only deserves to go to jail for his role in the same type of behavior that brought down Enron and WorldCom if we can establish within a reasonable doubt that he, indeed, did.
That innocent until proven guilty thing and all.

Using my "Liberal" head and all....

It all depends on when that company "cooked" its books. Was Cheney There? How much did he know?

Etcetera Etcetera.

Honestly, you shouldn't concentrate on Dick. The one we should hang by their intestines is the spawn of Satan Martha Stewart.

I read a thing in News Week that said that the SEC might want testimony from Cheney on book-keeping at Haliburton. If they do call on him for testimony, Cheney could probably fake a heart attack (although it probably wouldn't take much for him to have a real one), and get out of it.

Cheney: Well, you want to know abou the accounting system at Haliburton while I was ther, eh? Well, we, oh God! I'm having a heart attack!

Heh...I'm envisioning that as an SNL skit with Chris Farley as Cheney...if Farley was still alive, that is.

Yes, they tried that skit too early, and all too real....
