...apparently. This is old news now, they picked up two suspects early this morning in Washington. Recently they announced they found a rifle that matched the bullets that killed 10 people. So it looks like these are the snipers.
One question, though--isn't this what happened with Oswald? The media said Oswald killed JFK, without a doubt, and that was that. Even though they had no evidence at all. Now, I think they've caught the sniper, but the two events are very similar.
BTW, this is my 1,000th post. Kind of scary knowing that I've pressed that button 1,000 times.

well, they found the rifle that did the shooting, and their car had been modified so that they could shoot out the back.

Let's wait and see. If the actual sniper has not been caught, we will know by the next fatal shooting.

i have heard additional information on the case from Channel 5 KPIX, a local news station in the San Francisco Bay Area. The evidence is mounting against these two individuals from analysis of the crime scene evidence in Alabama, Washington, and the District of Columbia. I am now of the opinion the law enforcement authorities have captured the individuals responsible for the sniping attacks.

Well, I think that part of the arrests was a media stunt so the cops could try to reassure the public that they were doing something. After all, they still haven't charged the older guy with anything directly sniper-related yet. They may still need to build up their evidence.
But my gut tells me that they've got the guys now. It adds up nicely -- the rifle, the hole in the car, the fingerprints...
Of course the police had to act quickly when that trucker's tip came in -- which is why they arrested the two guys right away. I guess they're just trying to drown them in red tape, keep them in custody, until they have enough firm proof to really charge them.
Because in such a major case where basically the entire population was threatened, making reassurances through the media is pretty important. Appearances.
Please note I'm not accusing any law enforcement organization of wrongdoing -- I'm just pointing out that they haven't definitively proven that these guys are the sniper(s) yet. That's what the courts are for, right?

They do know it's the same gun. So it's a step in the right direction that these guys are the "sniper."
