The Sons of Confederate Veterans view the Lincoln statue as "a slap in the face of a lot of brave men and women who went through four years of unbelievable hell fighting an invasion of Virginia led by President Lincoln," Brag Bowling, the SCV Virginia commander, said Thursday.
Hello, it was a war, not a picnic with the North behaving rudely. You lost, and it's about time you got over it! Playing the victim is getting really tiresome after almost a century and a half!

ARGH!!

See, I live in the "Deep South", and I see stupid crap like this all the time . . . idiots with Confederate flags raised high, stupid stickers saying "The South will rise again", and so on. Makes me want to get all Sherman on their asses. Generally, the flags and such are simply the way for normal people to identify the stupid hicks. (And yes, there are a few normal people in the Deep South, though some (myself included) are simply Yankee imports.)

As far as I'm concerned, they should put a big honkin' fountain right in front of the Sons of Confederate Veterans headquarters. It should be a monstrously huge statue of Lincoln, pants unzipped, with a huge stone wang pissing all over their building.

In fact, I'm thinking this is a really good idea to use as an addition to the "Confederate Veterans War Memorial" sitting beside the city hall of the southern town I grew up in.

"...invasion of Virginia led by President Lincoln..."

Does it matter to him that the war started in South Carolina, and the Confederate military fired first?

If you're going to throw history at these guys, you might as point out that the last son of a confederate veteran croaked some decades ago.

No wonder why Quebec is so unhappy.

Heh. I'm just in the slightly-south, and I still run into people like that on occasion. They're very silly.

That was no war, good sir, but rather a mere police action.

Riiight. If nothing else works, then an absolute pig headed refusal to look facts in the face will get us through. [Razz]

Have you ever noticed that people will believe whatever they want, regardless of the facts....

Posted by Daryus Aden (Member # 12) on :

Please, present the facts.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

What facts would you have us look at, Daryus?

Posted by Daryus Aden (Member # 12) on :

Any that Ritten would like clarified.

Do you want the truth?

Do you WANT THE TRUTH?

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!

Messy. Here's a Kleenex.

These are the facts, and they are indisputable!

Okay, I think someone's confused here, and it could very well be me, but it seems to me that Ritten and Daryus were in agreement w/ each other in their first posts.

I support the dropping of smart bombs on any establishment openly displaying a Confederate or Nazi flag, as they are a symbol of solidarity with hostile governments / organizations dedicated to the overthrow of the US government by force.

Make them go BOOM.

"I support the dropping of smart bombs on any establishment openly displaying a Confederate ... flag..."

So, for example, Mississippi?

Pick a target, any target...

No, I'm back to my old self again, and back to my old goal of obliterating the blight that is your country from the surface of the Earth. [Razz]

Oh, no, wait. Sooner or later you'll do that FOR me. [Big Grin]

Okay, new goal: "Great Space Coaster" TV reunion episode. [Roll Eyes]
