Once again I talk about car insurance. This time, the insurance racket is getting way out of hand. Car insurance companies in NB are now refusing to insure vehicles older than 10 years. However, if the vehicle is 25 years or older, it can be registered as an antique. So, if your vehicle is beween 10-25 years old, you either have to get rid of it, or drive it without insurance. This is a real hindrance to people like me brother, who can't afford vehicles 10 years old or newer, and he just bought a 1988 Sunbird. Unless the government steps in (which it hasn't yet), my dad is going to have to get a new truck in 2006. What do you folks have to say about this?

Sheesh.

My girlfriend was driving her 1990 Sunbird when she was hit by someone making an illegal left turn. The car was a writeoff.

Now I have yet to own a car, which I would like to someday. Originally, I was going to purchase the car from her so that I would not have to pay so much insurance since I'm a first time driver. The car is valued at $1500, which is probably what I could afford.

It almost smacks of two-tiered insurance, as the ones who would only be able to afford insurance on a car <10 years old is someone with deeper pockets than myself.
