Candidate Bush was pretty much a happy-go-lucky intellictual lightweight who, when elected, er, appointed, ran qucickly into the open arms of Grover Norquist the hard-right on social issues.
Prior to 9/11, he didn't have much of a foreign policy, but subsequently though, he pretty much became a mouthpiece for the super hawks like Dick Chenney, Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Pearle, among others.
But Mr. Bush's love affair with the hard-right began well before 9/11.
