Really? I thought it was Basic Instinct.
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Nope, you're both wrong.
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
"The Accidental Tourist"?
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Are those pillows or sand-bags?
"The English Patient"?
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Pillows. It's a teenie comedy, which was followed by a TV show. Now it's easy, isn't it?
Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :
"Clueless"?
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
"Teaching Mrs Tingle"
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
M*A*S*H?
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
"Van Wilder"
Bonus frame I don't know, but I'll bet it's illegal.
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
Bonus Guess: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Pack?"
Google does not have many matches for "buffy and pigs."
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
Then my guess is "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", episode "Never leave me". :-)
Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :
Hey, I just watched that episode yesterday. It was, um, silly. They ate the principal? Sure, whatever you say, Joss.
Posted by Valles (Member # 925) on :
Addams Family?
Well, looks like Lurch to -me-.
Blessed be. -n (Doesn't watch many movies. Now, if it were -anime-...)
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh! Stephen King's "It". 8)
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Two things, by the way: first, I didn't realise you were going to just edit your initial post, Patrick - I missed the intermediate four rounds. Second, what's to stop someone editing their initial incorrect post now it doesn't immediately say if a post has been edited?
Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :
"Deep Impact"?

Sorry, I thought it'd be better to have all information in one post

Hey, I believe in the good of people. Seriously, any suggestions?
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
"Carrie?"
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
I can guess for the bonus right after I guessed for the movie, right?
Bonus: Ally McBeal - Pursuit of Lonliness.
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
quote:Originally posted by Ultra Magnus: I can guess for the bonus right after I guessed for the movie, right?
Sure. I just want to prevent people from posting umpteen guesses for the same round.
Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
So far, I've seen this thing go from round 1 to 3 to 7. And I don't know what rounds any of those guesses apply to, or which ones were right/wrong...
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Ok, I'll post every time someone got the correct answer. Additionally, you'll find all rounds in the first posting. Bonus rounds remain unannounced, though.
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
So it's not Carrie. . . Hellraiser?
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
WTF is going on - so this isn't still the legs'n'pillows picture?
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
HEY! A little content warning - I'm currently eating a pastie with tomato sauce!! And then I click on the new picture!!
Heh
Is it from "Psycho"?
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
It's a horror movie from the late 20th century and it's got a sequel recently.
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Final Destination II
(I was going to say Stuart Little 2. )
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :

That'd be the sequel.
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
I sneak in and take it!
Final Destination.

Yep.
What is going on in that picture - and what was it supposed to be a spoof of!?!

Fight Club!

That's the disgusting butler with a werd, crippled hand, who is preparing dinner for a group of teenagers. Unfortunately he touches all food with his icky hand. In this picture, he's going to put his hand in the turkey's anus.
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Spike: Becuase I haven't seen that movie.
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
An East-German version of Ghostbusters?
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
Hey, whoa, slow down here. If Nim got it wrong, why did you start another round?
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
Because he got it right.
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
They were in Scream 3?
Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :
"Fahrenheit 451"? IIRC, while Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back had a Scream tie-in sequence, I believe that was just "payback" for a cameo role in Scream 3. However, JaSBSB would have been the obvious (wrong) answer...hence why Spike wanted someone to guess it.
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
Spike is shrewd. We like shrewd. We fear change but we love beans.
Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
I would have said it was Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but only because I've seen neither it, nor Scream 3, and I knew it wasn't any of the first four Kevin Smith films.
Posted by The Mighty Monkey of Mim (Member # 646) on :
The Saint?
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
Maybe a sance will bring Spike back into our midst. Everybody strip and let us join hands! Ommmmm....
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Well, I intended to give you at least 12 hours for that round, but if you don't want to wait that long:
Any objections if I strike the "You need 15 points to win"-rule and we play this till round 50?
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
Sure, all the better. I would hate for you to have to throw away all the redundant goodies.
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
No objections here.
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Good idea.
Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
Is it just me, or is it kind of pointless, in this format, to have a competition where the winner is the first person who responds correctly to a single question? It all comes down to whether or not a person is lucky enough to check the thread right after the new round is posted. So far, every one that I've known has been answered before I ever saw it.
Posted by Nim (Member # 205) on :
For the competition to be totally fair, Spike would have to implement a truckload of more rules.
There would have to be a preset round start, in which case everybody would be on the starting blocks, a few people would know the right answer and the winner is the fastest typer.
Besides, I'm on Greenwich+1 time, I can't wait 'til 2am (8pm EST)just for the round to start.
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Anyone get the latest one - the only distinguishing feature is that wierd cup - which I remember from some movie. In a police station or something.
Lethal Weapon?
The colour of that guy's clothes makes him look like Stanley Tweedle!
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Any ideas how to handle the problem of the different time zones? Of course, it's a little bit late for this contest, but I've enough screenshots for a second one.
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Halloween?
What was the last answer?
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
quote:Originally posted by AndrewR: Halloween?
Which part?
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
I don't know it was just a guess! LOL!
Ummmmm Halloween: H2O?
I guessed by the guy's face had some sorta mask - and If I remembered correctly - that was "Jason" wasn't it? And then I couldn't remember what horror series he was from - and I guessed Halloween.
The kid in the eye-reflection looks sorta eighties/early nineties though - so it mightn't be H2O.

I've always wondered what he put in that scrotum-goblet.
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Indeed.
Well, that was fun. Nice one Patrick, very well-thought-out competition. The sheer amount of work that must have gone into it all. . . Anyone else feel like having a go? Like Nim, for one, since he's obviously got a lot of time on his hands given how much he seems to be online! 8)
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
Well, I'm online a lot more than Nim, I think but I have no DVD capture ability...
Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :
I actually agree, this was fun although most of the captures were posted at times I was you know......doing that life thing, I honestly can't think of a better solution.
Nonetheless, I greatly respect the amount of work and movie watching that must have went into this
As for the future, an idea would be to distribute the work among all members. i.e. have a central upload point, and a moderator that filters the pictures for inappropriate content. Members can upload screenshots, along with a description of where it came from, and who captured it.....so we know who to blame if it was all a practical joke;) Then the moderator could release one per day or something. i.e. "Today's screenshot was brought to you by blah"

A bit complex, wouldn't you say?
Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :
Well, I see what he's saying - spreading the capping work around. Problem is, it's more fun playing the game and testing one's film knowledge than being one of the cappers and therefore unable to participate.
Posted by Mucus (Member # 24) on :
Well, I only brought the idea up because Topher said he didn't have DVD capturing abilities (implying that he does have DVDs). On the other hand, I have few DVDS (unless I include Divx rips) but do have a program for capturing images.
It doesn't seem like a complex idea, maybe I just worded it badly. Vogon Poet: Well, depending on how much the capping work was split around, you would still be able to participate in the majority of the contest, just not what you yourself submitted.
Posted by The Mighty Monkey of Mim (Member # 646) on :
I think it would be cool to do a baton-passing type thing, where one person posts a cap and the person who guesses it has to post another, and the person who guesses that one has to post another, and so on.
Of course, that would mean that only those who have capturing ability could feasibly participate...
-MMoM Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Something the Scream picture reminded me of!
Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :
Thanks to all for the participation. Winner of this contest is Nim, with 18 points. Second place goes to Ultra Magnus and third place goes to Vogon Poet.
1. Nim (18 points). 2. Ultra Magnus (12 points). 3. Vogon Poet (8.5 points).
I'd appreciate if someone else could do the next contest, 'cos I'd like to play myself. But if nobody volunteers, just give me some time to prepare a new batch of pics.

At last! It'll go ncely with my BSC (Bronze Swimming Certificate). . . 8)
Posted by Ultra Magnus (Member # 239) on :
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
Second place is the first loser.
HOORAY!
Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :
About the only way to fairly do this contest would be to put all the pictures up at once, have everyone privately send their answers to whoever's running it, and then determine the winner by the person w/ the most right.
